Wen and Jenn at Back to Basics were wonderful to work with. We came into our private training lessons with Jenn overwhelmed with our reactive and highly distractible Pyrenees Bobbi. Our previous training gave us a foundation for basics but was not helping us or Bobbi with her reactivity and excitement around other dogs. Jenn patiently worked with us and Bobbi and since the completion of our training Bobbi has steadily improved her calmness around other dogs and attentiveness towards us on walks. Months ago we couldn't even think about walking past another dog on the same sidewalk because Bobbi would jump at any dog she saw, not to be aggressive, but to play. She would lock onto dogs across the street and lay down which was frustrating when we were trying to walk her on a time crunch, she pulled like a freight train even with corrective harnesses, and would completely ignore us. Jenn gave us the tools to manage these issues and now we don't dread walks anymore. She is much more attentive to us, and mostly ignores dogs that are across the street or farther away, which is insane considering she used to lay down for dogs a block away from us. Jenn gave us some redirection tools that allow us to easily re-route her now when we see potential issues with other dogs arise, and we have also gotten her pulling much more under control. If Jenn and Wen were able to help us and our crazy pup, I'm confident they can help you as well!

We worked with Jenn. She was very patient with us and our pup. She gave us various tips and tricks to help our 7 month old Shepard mix socialize, manage his reactivity and bond with us. We recommend Back to Basics and Jenn!

We chose to do daycare and train option because our puppy Charlie was a pretty nervous guy so this was a good compromise giving him the opportunity to have plenty of training while still coming home to us after work- it also gave us the opportunity for socialization. Connor did a great job with Charlie and adjusted to how our nervous boy was feeling on a given day or setting. He gained more confidence and I can now walk him without being dragged down the street :) Charlie learned a lot of things that really help in the day to day like stay and door manners and his recall is great which is really helpful especially at 7 months and full of energy. Aside from videos we were able to ask a lot of questions and adjust along the way and Connor also helped us break some of Charlie’s bad habits we were struggling with. I looked into a few options for training and Back to Basics was absolutely the right call!

We rescued our puppy before having our third baby and we’re looking to get our puppy trained asap! I reached out to a few training places and then came across Wen at Back to Basics. Just speaking to Wen on the phone, I immediately felt comfortable and she had so much knowledge! We did in home training and then sent her for 10 day training. Our puppy Cleo came out a different puppy and listens to all her commands! She also helped get her on a crate schedule and she has all her naps and sleeps over night in her crate. Wen is such a great trainer and became friend to us. We love you Wen!

Connor and the Posh Pet team did an amazing job with our dog. We adopted a stray pitbull with little training and he taught him how to sit stay and leave toys and drastically improved his resource guarding and aggression. The best part was they taught us how to continue the training and help in prove habits at home. Connor came over and helped us to teach good habits when walking on the leash and even how to sit and stay when guests knock. I would highly recommend working with them for training techniques!

My wife and I took our 3 month old puppy to Posh Pet for Back to the Basics Training. It was 2 weeks of training and boarding. Connor was our pup’s trainer and we can’t speak highly enough of the work Connor performed. He taught our pup several commands to help us control his behavior. He was extremely professional, trained us on how to emphasize the commands, documented and communicated the process the entire time they had him, and has made himself available for any follow up questions. Furthermore, he scheduled an in home follow up appointment a few weeks later to ensure there were no questions, monitor his progress, and add home specific tips. Lastly, you can tell that Connor genuinely cares about our pet and his profession. Thank you again Back to the Basics and Connor!
