I love this local sweet little shop! I appreciate their great work and communication, and love that its spending in my own HP neighborhood to have something fixed or altered here. I am so happy to see them busy busy whenever I go by. Highly recommend!

Came to get my wedding dress’s corset back replaced with a zipper. Staff are professional and very kind, allowing me to try on the garment and adjust as needed. The prices and turn around time were fair for my services. I recommend them! Thanks, Backstitch!

Backstitch is hands down the BEST choice for all your tailoring, alterations and sewing needs in the Detroit/Highland Park/Hamtramck area and beyond. I have brought a total of three bridesmaid dresses to Kristine over the years. From a simple hem job, to altering a dress to be high-low, to taking a dress down an entire size, and everything in between, she has done AMAZING work on each piece. She is fair, fast and friendly, and she always greets every customer with a huge smile! Backstitch is the ONLY tailor I have -and will continue to- recommended to friends, associates and you kind internet strangers. Wonderful black owned and women owned and mother owned. Excellent service, superb attention to detail and definitely feels like having a sister or aunt who knows what you want and delivers on time. Found her on a local news segment m. She is what male Detroit shine bright again is all. Her prices and expertise are just the cherries on. She is the real deal. She always delivers and never over promises. She also is seamstress networking friendly. Custom and casual repair customer here with no complaints only rants and raves.

She is a fabulous seamstress and super kind, understanding, and skilled. She's gotten me together twice already and as a plus size girly, that is not a common feeling to experience. The studio is a calm and homey space with her work showcased all around, as well as the work of others and local events and organizations. Very community oriented. I don't go to the seamstress often (twice so far) but because of how comfortable I am here at Backstitch, I'll definitely be coming again. Loyal customer here! 👋
