I had an amazing time at this place. There were plenty of rooms to choose from, and the charcoal room was a great experience. The highlight of the stay was the steam room. The food was good, but not as good as I had hoped. I will definitely return to try more of the food and to get a massage. I was not able to book a massage when I tried to book one, they were fully booked. Overall, I had a great experience.
I spent a wonderful morning and afternoon at Balian Springs Spa in Alexandria. I came here on a weekday and enjoyed the experience but more specifically the staff which I interacted with. I met Kelvin after my initial shower in the locker room. He gave me a sample of a delicious frozen smoothie which was good. He gave me the layout of the building and told me to start at the top and worked my way down. Great idea! The food was spot on and very affordable. Picture attached to the review. The spa itself is on point and the venue was kept up by the very attentive staff. Even the gentleman in the men’s locker room as friendly and cordial. Towels were very clean and not old and frayed. One minor issue I noticed was that many of the spas have a capacity of 5 people, which I appreciate for preventing overcrowding but I can only imagine the inconvenience of waiting on a weekend when more folks are present. Another small attention to detail noticed was there were some pool massage portals that were inoperable. Totally not a deal breaker at all, although for the price of entry, I can see how one would appreciate all parts to be functional. Nonetheless, I appreciated the water stations and infinite towels. Loved the saunas and most especially the steam room. It was also cool to notice folks participating in a yoga class while I was decompressing and relaxing. I felt very relaxed once I showered the second time upon my exit. All I wanted to do was take a nap, lol. Everything is very clean, the food is thoughtful . The service was the one thing I remembered the most so kudos on that , and overall, this is one of the better spas in the area I have been to in the past couple years. I highly recommend it but definitely go on a weekday and avoid wait times to the amenities on a weekend where it costs more!! Ciao!
I absolutely love this spa. Me and my sister went for the first time and it was nothing short of amazing. We left there feeling so rejuvenated. We stayed for 7 hours. We going again this weekend. I cannot wait. They do have military discount. They are on the pricey side but it’s worth it. We didn’t try to food so that’s on our to do list this go around. This time the girl squad is coming. The ladies are gonna love this place.
I spent a wonderful afternoon and evening at Balian Springs Spa in Alexandria, from 2 PM to 9 PM, and I absolutely loved it! Everything was stunning and exceptionally clean, especially compared to other spas I’ve visited in this area. The staff is wonderful and very friendly, and the pools are beautiful. I tried the Chicken Panini with fries- it was a generous portion at a great price, only $16, and I really enjoyed it. The spa itself is fantastic, and the shower is wonderful- very relaxing and well-designed. However, I felt the lack of doors or curtains in the shower was a bit uncomfortable. Not everyone likes being seen while showering, and I believe there should be options for privacy. One minor issue I noticed was that many of the pool massagers were not working, especially in the infinity pool upstairs. For a spa of this caliber, it would be ideal if all massagers were functional. I believe there were around 15 massagers in total, but only 3 or 4 were working. The same issue was in the lower pool, where only 2 out of 6 recliner massagers were operational. I think this is something that should be carefully monitored for a high-end spa like this. I observed that some other guests were upset about it, especially those who come with a company and wanted to sit together. Another small point was the lack of tea or coffee. I arrived at 2:30 PM, and the café that supposedly serves tea was already closed. I checked several times throughout my stay, and there was never anyone available to serve it. While the bars offer cocktails (very pricey on my opinion), tea would feel more appropriate for this serene spa environment. I am not a cocktail person, especially in a SPA. On a positive note, every floor has several stations with free water infused with lemon and cups, which was very refreshing and convenient throughout the day. Despite these minor points, my rating is a full 5 stars. I will definitely return- and not just once! Everything is extremely clean, the food is well-priced, the service is excellent, and overall, this is by far the best spa in the area I have visited. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Ranked one of USAToday’s Top 10 Spas in the US, this location had much to live up to. At $165 for a weekend day pass, even more to. Clean and serene, this 3 floor relaxation big box tucked away in a business center in Alexandria gets the core right but leaves a bit to be desired. The gendered locker areas are bright and noticeably polished. I felt comfortable navigating the space shoeless, which was the mandatory step one of the mildly-curated experience as I stored my shoes and found my locker space for my personals. I advise packing light and avoiding bulky bags or jackets as the space is a bit limited. You’re provided water-friendly slides and a robe, but no shorts, so plan to pack swimwear and transitional, cozy attire between sweats and plunges if lounging is on your itinerary. Facility bathing and body products are mild, lightly scented, but unmarked so I advise bringing your own if you’re particular. The co-ed wet area is scenic and dynamic, but the overall impact is as luke warm as the main pool water temperature. Architecturally the space is designed with an obvious circular flow, but the interior finishes feel heartless and uninspired. Namely the Sunday Brunch themed faux grass walls accompanied by neon “Live Laugh Love” feeling backdrops for your social media contrived photo-op (I’m assuming). The furniture, fake plants, and wall art feels like an after thought direct from your local Ross and Target… Maybe seasonal interchangeables from Amazon Prime. The food menu gestures towards a healthy diverse variety but falls short at execution. The staff is quick, friendly, and organized… But bring your own snacks and plan to eat before or after your time here. Your soul will not be nourished from the food choices. The temperament and professionalism of the staff varied person to person, but generally the team exhibited poise, kindness, and a desire to educate and support a pleasant experience. If you want a clean, full day get away check this place out on a weekday when you can snag 4-6 hours away from your day job to save a few bucks. At the weekend price, you’ll experience a bit more traffic, but possibly walk away wondering if the commute to Spa World would’ve been an afternoon spa day better spent. The options of sweat rooms offer your seasoned spa go-er options but the heat in most spaces (including the steam room) left much to be desired. Many places for napping and stretching, but a few other spaces you’ll wonder if they’re truly ever used… Namely the aroma and sensory immersion spaces. If this space offered more interactive components (such as activations and education sessions), gratuitous light bites, promotions for couples, and had more plush furniture in resting areas… I’d feel more comfortable with the price point. Overall: 6.8 or 7.2 out of 10. Not singing home. Not in a hurry to go back. Glad I indulged a bit.
