My wife had the eggplant parm, which was pretty thin with almost no breading and very little cheese. The sauce was tasty and pasta was cooked perfectly. Overall, I'd give it only an average rating. I had a pizza with traditional red sauce, mushrooms and sopprassata on a charcoal crust. It was excellent.

Basil & Barley Pizzeria is easily one of the standout spots in Colorado Springs. We went here for a wine tasting event the other night. The food is exceptional, especially their charcoal-crust pizza—flavorful, and completely unique. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and genuinely comfortable. It’s the kind of place where you immediately feel welcomed by the lovely family that operates it. If you’re looking for delicious Napoletana style pizza in a genuinely inviting setting, Basil and Barley is a must-try.

I have eaten here several times when visiting The Springs. My favorite pizzeria! Closest to authentic Italian.

Our server was not a 5*, but she got better, the owner greeted us, food was great. Definitely will return.

We tried this place for the first time this evening and while we enjoyed our food, it wasn’t a home run for us. Our server was great and attentive. We ordered three menu items: Cesar salad (large), appetizer- Angioletti, and a pizza- carnefice. The salad was just okay. Some of the lettuce was brown on the ends and it just could have been more fresh. The appetizer was very good. We’ve never tried anything like it. It was served immediately after our salad and so we felt a bit rushed to eat both items. Then just a few short minutes into eating our salad and appetizer, our pizza was delivered. Our server apologized that it came out so quickly. It wasn’t her fault. It was just all so rushed out to us and we were going for a more laid back experience and better paced delivery to our table. The pizza was good and had great flavors. I’d encourage others to give the place a try, but not sure when we’ll come back again. Also, a note to management/ please get rid of the stained bench in your foyer. We took one look at that and almost walked back out.
