Located on the corner of Elizabeth Street and Wentworth Avenue, Basket Brothers has established itself as a reliable anchor in the Sydney CBD/Surry Hills brunch scene. It strikes a balance between a high-paced city cafe and a relaxed weekend hangout. Here is a breakdown of what to expect based on current local sentiment: The Atmosphere & Vibe The cafe features high ceilings and large windows that offer great people-watching opportunities along one of the city's busier corridors. The interior is industrial-chic but warm, making it equally suitable for a solo work breakfast, a quick business coffee, or a slow Sunday recovery session. Menu Highlights Basket Brothers is best known for its house-smoked meats and generous portions. Smoked Brisket Hash: Their signature dish. The 12-hour slow-cooked brisket is tender and paired with a smoky BBQ sauce, jalapeño salsa, and a fried egg. It’s a heavy, satisfying meal that "toes the line" between breakfast and lunch. The "Full Basket": A classic big breakfast that hits all the marks—chorizo, bacon, truffled mushrooms, and eggs. Pancakes & Sweets: If you're after something for the "Gram," their Red Velvet Pancakes (often topped with fairy floss and marshmallows) or their fluffy French toast specials are frequent favorites. Coffee: They serve Allpress Espresso (and sometimes Pablo & Rusty's), which is consistently praised for being robust and well-extracted.

I have been at basket brothers multiple times during my stay in Sydney and enjoyed the breakfast options a lot. Out of the 3 I tried the pesto scrambled eggs was the best. Simply outstanding and I will try to recreate it at home. The chili eggs and avocado toast with poached eggs were also delicious.

We had a late lunch here yesterday yesterday. They had a happy hour discount on all their bugers. Their Death by Chocolate milkshake was amazing, well balanced and not too sweet. Thier Korean Fried chicken was tasty but could have been a little crispier, their smasj avo was also tasty and shoestring fries yum! Table was a little sticky, aside from that, a hreat place to eat.

We decided to have our lunch here as the reviews for the breakfast were pretty good, but our experience was just average. The poke bowl was a bit bland and I’d love to have a bit more depth in the flavour. The soba had an odd texture…perhaps it was overcooked. We also ordered the steak sandwich and unfortunately it was sooo tough and hard to eat :( one of our orders was missed, we had to ask the staff before they made it. The coffee was pretty good though, and the staff were lovely, so maybe going for breakfast will be a better choice.

A beautiful space on the corner with breakfast and lunch eats. Plenty of great options. The coffee was amazing! So so good. And the food, so beautiful and delicious as well. The presentation was so gorgeous, but the taste was the best part of our meals. Highly recommended!
