I’ve been getting my haircut at Beck’s Barbershop for years now and I can’t say enough good things. From the moment you walk into the clean, welcoming shop on NE Glisan, you feel right at home. Rebecca is a true professional—skilled, attentive, and genuinely passionate about her craft. She listens to exactly what I want and delivers a perfect scissor cut for medium length hair that looks sharp for weeks. The vibe is relaxed but top-tier, the service is fast yet never rushed, and every detail (scissor cut, straight-razor cleanup, the works) makes you feel like a VIP. Whether you need a classic cut, a modern style, or just a quick trim, she nails it every single time. If you’re in Portland and want the best barber experience around, stop looking—Beck’s is it. I never go anywhere else. Highly, highly recommend!

This is an odd one! I walked in w no appt because I just needed the neck area shaven/trimmed. I did not ask for price because this is usually free if you are a customer of theirs or a few dollars ($5-10) Well, the treatment and service I received was good. No complaints at all there. The 2.5 stars is because how much they're charged me: $20 exactly. This is for shaving the back of the neck and no touching for actual long hair where the scalp is. It seemed bizarrely unreasonable. I paid it without further issue because, like I said, I did not ask for price and so the transaction and charge is total legal. I paid them through Venmo, said thanks, and left to my next thing. No comment at all on the price. I would have thought that given that it's a "neighborhood" business and they get paid in "cash" that they would have tried to either warn me about the cost, maybe earn me as a customer by charging me $5-10, or something of the sort. Maybe they knew I was a one-time payer somehow and didn't care for what I was doing and for how much. To summarize it: service was okay and $20 for neck was legal from a service pov. That is why I paid without comment. If you go, you will find a business that follows laws. But does all legal business have integrity, is ethical, mindful, or reasonable for what it is?

I stumbled into Autum's chair as a new Portland resident and could not have been luckier. Besides a great cut and great conversation, I get some of the greatest book recommendations as a bonus. Haven't gone anywhere else since I moved here, and can't imagine why I would.
