Having been to Bella Italia many times before to enjoy their wonderful and full vegan menu, I was amazed to realise my review, though highly rated was from before I was vegan. Appropriately nothing has changed really. For a family week night dinner the restaurant was busy for 2 sittings though our larger booking of 7 was able to be adjusted from 5 people easily. To begin we all shared a vegan garlic crust pizza with vegan cheese. My sister initially turned her nose up at the ordering of "Vegan cheese". But commented later how delicious it was. For me the gnocchi alla sorrentina was light and soft with a beautiful homemade marinara sauce. Not to dense and carefully created. The perfect meal if you want the envy of a creamy pasta dish with the variation of home made potato gnocchi and have it be completely vegan. The family also ordered the vegan pizza zucca without realising it was vegan until I told them. They were amazed that it had no animal products. To finish I ordered a "slab" or vegamisu, an appropriation of traditional tiramisu, and my goodness a slab wasn't enough. Yum We all shared a bottle of the Charlish and Co Shiraz Viognier from the McLaren vale SA which was conveniently labeled as a vegan wine. Bella Italia has a thoughtfully composed menu to suit Vegan and Omni guests alike and the vegan food skips nothing. The customer service upon walking in and out is exceptional. This staff is one of the best and most cohesive hospitality teams in Newcastle. Nico one of the owners passion is clear.

We ordered delivery which was super fast. The croquettes for entree were delicious and cheesy and crispy. The Gnocchi Calabrese was the best gnocchi I’ve had in years, beautifully complimented with flavourful and tender pork ragu sauce. I can’t comment on the supreme pizza because it was finished before I could ask for a taste. Five stars for atmosphere because we were able to enjoy a fantastic dinner in comfy clothes.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bella Italia and had a very enjoyable time. I'm a fussy eater yet I could find no issues with any of the delicious food I scoffed on the night. To add to the experience, the hosts, Nico and Andrea, are very friendly and are obviously passionate about preparing authentic Italian food. Nico joined our table after our meal and we had a very interesting and engaging chat. To top it all off, Nico very generously gifted me a portion of Guanciale and some fresh Mozzarella cheese to take home! I eventually made some Bucatini all’Amatriciana with the Guanciale and it was delicious (the image doesn't do it justice unfortunately). Thanks to you Nico and Andrea for sharing your skills and passion!

Hey folks! I visited Newcastle for the first time during the Easter holiday and had dinner at Bella Italia. Being Italian and a pasta lover, I was curious to see how it would be. I ordered the traditional spaghetti — it had a bit of spice, but the flavor was nice and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, just the way I like it. My partner had a pizza, which was okay but nothing particularly special. They offer a vegan menu, what's lovely 😍 Unfortunately, the customer service wasn’t great. After placing our order, I changed my mind at the last minute, and the waiter didn’t seem happy about it. I understand there’s a system in place, but to avoid misunderstandings, it would be helpful if staff repeated and confirmed the order before submitting it. Having worked in hospitality myself, I know how important it is to maintain a professional and friendly attitude — showing frustration in front of customers is not acceptable. The pricing was also on the expensive side — around AUD $30 per person for just the main dish.
