Had a good experience here for a dinner with 8 people. Alos good for couples who do not mind a sociable night. The theatre of the chef cooking infront of you is great entertainment. The "New York Japanese" food is tasty and filling. A similar experience to when I ate at a Beniahana in another country a few years ago. We did leave with our clothes being very smelly from the cooking smells, but worth it!

Benihana Covent Garden is really about one thing, the fun, theatrical cooking and showmanship. And to be fair, the chefs genuinely try. They engage the table, crack jokes, flip utensils, and make an effort to entertain everyone. If you’re here for the experience, especially with friends or first-timers, that part does its job. Food-wise though, I’m Asian, so I’ll be brutally honest. It was terrible. Strip away the performance and you’re left with food that’s shockingly bland. Even the most basic chicken had almost no taste. The meat, the vegetables, everything felt under-seasoned and flat. Once the flames die down and the theatrics are over, there’s really nothing left to hold onto flavour-wise. The worst offender was the fried rice. I’ve heard people rave about it for years, including online, so expectations were already set. It turned out to be one of the most bland fried rice dishes I’ve ever had. No depth, no fragrance, no character. Maybe this is a cultural or taste preference thing, but in Asia, no one would call this proper fried rice. We’d honestly call it “white people fried rice”, and I mean that in the most literal sense. I can confidently say no Asian would describe this as good fried rice. So yes, come for the experience, the fun, and the novelty. But if you’re expecting to walk out thinking this teppanyaki is Japanese oishii, don’t. Manage expectations accordingly and you’ll enjoy it a lot more.

This is the first place where I’ve ever eaten so much in my life. We ordered the chef’s menu, which was delicious, and new dishes kept arriving non-stop every time we finished a course. You can eat a lot. I highly recommend it because everything was excellent. I love the concept of watching your food being prepared. All the chefs are incredibly talented and knowledgeable. It’s the perfect place to experience the culture.

First time in benihana, the kitchen show was really good the chefs are very skilled. It was very enjoyable. The salmon and steak were very good quality. I loved the salmon salad as well. The only thing was the sushi, it was awful. I got the California roll, there was canned tuna inside???? It was so disgusting, I had to send it back. Luckily the servers were nice and took it off the bill as well. Worth a visit.
