I usually only go on the auto belays which isn't an issue here because there's about 15 of them so I don't feel like limited on what to go on. The grading is off slightly on some routes once in a while, but on average they overall feel right. They have a good variety of different types of holds, and route types. The staff seem friendly enough, they gave me a free session on learning to climb with a partner on the roped climbing walls, and they said because they asked me a bit late if I wanted to join, I could get it for free. Which was weirdly lucky for me because I'd been trying to join a session like that for ages and then to not have to pay for it was even better. I only get a black coffee from the cafe but they have stacks of different types of brownies that always look tempting on the counter.
This place is amazing. Staff are knowledgeable and ridiculously friendly. Both my girls are now hooked and spend all their free time there. So much variety in climbs with routes being regularly reset to keep it interesting. Coffee is good too!
Visited recently with a small group of friends as a novice to climbing, having prior experience I was able to head straight to the walls after a warm welcome and debrief, Shoes were easily supplied and my size was accompanied for after returning my first pair! Walls were well kept in good condition, no loose holds and chalk was okay to use, Mats were clean and the whole place was very well kept and easy to get around, We spent two hours climbing after which we were certainly tired! Will be returning again and am happy to see I was insipired to start and pickup bouldering!
Great facility. Visited while on holiday. Our two children (9 &12) are both competent climbers, are NICAS certified and climb at least weekly. This was the largest facility we have been to. Huge range of climbing walls and bouldering routes. We were only there for 2 hours, and it was only £17 for 2 day passes. Cafe superb. Great range of vegetarian food. Clean and staff very friendly. Highly recommend.
I tried everything this climbing center has to offer, and despite some negative reviews I’d seen, I was pleasantly surprised by how good my experience was. While it’s not perfect yet, I believe in a year or two when it’s fully open and the climbs are more accurately graded it could easily become one of the best in the UK. They cater to every type of climber, with great challenging lead climbing, plenty of auto belays, loads of bouldering problems, a kids’ area, a training area, and a gym currently under construction. The cafe was decent, and I’m told they’ll start serving food soon, which is exciting. The staff were friendly and attentive, even on the very busy day I visited. My only criticism is that the climbs felt a bit too easy. I didn’t find any that truly challenged me, even on grades I’d normally struggle with. That said, I’m hopeful this will improve as the center develops further.
