Love this gym. Not some powderpuff gum with pink equipment. Come in and go to work. No barbie girl music, no gimmicky contracts. Great group of people seriously working on themselves. If your serious and the disney mickey mouse gym isnt working for you, this is the place to go
I’m moving to Austin soon and have been checking out gyms in the area Big Tex Gym definitely stood out! The staff was super friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in, making me feel welcome right away. I love the atmosphere here it has that classic old-school gym vibe, but everything is still really well kept and the equipment is up to date. You can tell it’s a place for people serious about their training but still laid back and supportive. Can’t wait to make this my new gym home once I move!
Been going to Big Tex for at least 15 months and I'm planning to stay even longer. The facilities are great (and always open!), the weights are a mix of new stuff and the classics, and the staff is great. You can always find room to work out with the size of the gym (maybe skip out on 5pm TTh) and there's always another way to hit something you're working on. Not everyone is looking to talk, but the social aspect is there if you want it. Great gym, especially for people who know what they like in the gym.
Big Tex Gym is the real deal. The free weights and specialty equipment here cover everything you need for serious strength training, and there’s plenty of space to move without feeling cramped. The atmosphere is focused but respectful. Everyone’s here to put in work, and that energy pushes you to train harder. Sophie at the front desk is a huge asset too; she’s knowledgeable, professional, and always quick to help if something comes up. If you’re serious about lifting, this is the spot in Austin.
Big Tex is my favorite gym in Austin, for many reasons, and I’ll tell you them all. The people, the equipment, the staff are all top notch! The staff is always easy to talk to and quick to help. They are supportive and genuinely so helpful and really support everyone’s training and/competition goals. The gym itself has a very very strong community, and both the members and the staff make me happy to be here every day. Regarding equipment, you won’t find better or more high quality barbells. Squat bars, deadlift bars, regular power bars, a huge variety of specialty bars and equipment. There’s a huge variety of machines and dumbbells too. Also calibrated plates, bumper plates and good ole standard plates. I really can’t explain how much I love this gym! The drop in pass is so easy, $10. If you want a real training experience, check it out.
