I stopped by Bitty & Beau’s in San Marco today, and what I expected to be a quick coffee run turned into one of the most uplifting experiences I’ve had in a long time. The chai tea latte was absolutely delicious—smooth, perfectly balanced, and made with so much care. But honestly, the coffee is just the beautiful bonus. This place is so much more. It’s a human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop, and you feel that the moment you walk in. The team members—individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities—are genuinely proud, warm, and incredibly skilled at what they do. Their smiles, enthusiasm, and attention to detail made my visit feel special and seen. Watching them work with such joy and competence is a powerful reminder of how much talent and heart gets overlooked in our world. The founders’ mission—to change the way people see other people, one cup at a time—shines through everything here. In a society where over 80% of people with disabilities face unemployment, Bitty & Beau’s is creating real opportunity, dignity, and belonging. It’s not charity; it’s smart, inclusive business that lifts everyone up. If you’re in Jacksonville (or anywhere near a location), come for the exceptional coffee, stay for the even better humanity. My heart is full, and I’ll be back often—not just for the drinks, but to support this incredible movement. Thank you, Bitty & Beau’s team—you’re making the world brighter, one welcoming smile and perfect pour at a time. 💙 Highly recommend. Go see for yourself.
While visiting Florida, my sister insisted that we make a stop at Bitty & Beau’s Coffee—and I’m very glad we did. It was actually in the opposite direction of our travel plans, but we made the detour anyway. We only intended to grab a quick coffee to go, but before leaving we took time to look around and learn more about the story behind this incredible place. Bitty & Beau’s was founded by Amy and Ben Wright, parents of four children—Lillie, Emma Grace, Beau, and Bitty. Lillie has autism, and Bitty and Beau have Down syndrome. After learning that more than 80% of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are unemployed nationwide, the Wrights created a coffee shop where people with disabilities are valued and given meaningful employment. The original location opened in Wilmington, NC in 2016, and the mission has continued to grow. The coffee was very good, but what truly makes this place special is the atmosphere. You immediately feel the warmth, pride, and purpose the moment you walk in. This visit really hit home for me. This would have been an incredible place for my brother to work, had circumstances been different. If I lived near a Bitty & Beau’s, it would absolutely be a regular stop—not just for the coffee, but for everything it represents. Highly recommend stopping in if you have the chance.
