My foursome (made of 3 single digit handicappers and one teen handicapper) played the North course at Blackhorse Golf Club yesterday. We're members at another Houston area golf club but were looking forward to playing it again as it had been several months since we last played it. Condition of Course - We were thoroughly disgusted with the condition and pace of play of this course. The fairways and tees were very hard and not in good condition, which is shocking when your paying $135 green fees on a Thursday! The greens were in pretty nice shape except they too were pretty hard. As I understand it these courses have access to 1,000,000 gallons of water a day to water these courses so there is no excuse for not maintaining them. Pace of Play - They had a tournament that started earlier in the day and we were right behind the last group and they were very slow and totally clueless about pace of play. When we asked the starter, (who happened to be sitting away from the 1st or 10th holes doing nothing) why aren't they marshalling he said he only does starts (he had a Marshall sign on the front of his cart). Why a higher end Semi-private course complex like this can't get a marshall out there when the course is pretty busy is poor management but it appears as though all they care about is the Member South course. They appear to just want to get as many tournaments as they can get Needless to say by buddies will not be recommending anybody play this course ever again!

The course was so beautiful and the greens were immaculate. We were single me and my friend and her son. and let a group play through and immediately another group followed. They asked us to play with them if we wanted. A few holes later one of the people playing told us to basically leave because we were a fivesome. Long story short the staff were so nice about it and gave us a refund and I just really appreciate the staff for being so nice to us. Can’t wait to come back and next time we will make sure to match up with another group of 2 or 3 To make it go more smoothly. Thanks so much I can’t wait to come back soon

I really looking forward to playing the South Course at BlackHorse Golf Club despite the high cost. The clubhouse staff and the starter, Jim, were excellent—friendly, professional, and clear about expectations for pace of play, even mentioning that marshals would be out on the course to help keep things moving. However, that expectation didn’t match the reality. We were told it would be cart-path only on holes 1, 3, 5, 7, and all par 3s—and that was just the front nine. This wasn’t due to weather or course conditions, but simply policy. On a busy weekend, expecting players to maintain pace while essentially walking a significant portion of the course feels unrealistic and frustrating. I was further frustrated by the 4 some ahead of us. The younger player (perhaps with his father) hit 2 balls most of the game. We never saw a marshall the entire day! 5 hour round on a Saturday is totally unexecptable. I will never play that course again and I would encourage anyone reading these reviews not to bother wasting their time or money. For the price, I expected a more balanced and enjoyable experience.
