We felt discriminated against during our visit. We checked in and paid for 18 holes, plus an additional golf cart, yet a staff member accused us of not paying without any verification, which was insulting. We were told to leave because we shared one golf bag and started on the back 9. We started on the back 9 only because the front 9 was completely backed up at our tee time, and there is no policy on the official website or explanation at check-in regarding these restrictions. We completed the back 9, but when we attempted to play the front 9, we accidentally entered the wrong course and were asked to leave before completing even one hole. As a result, we paid for 18 holes but were denied the front 9 with no refund or rain check, which is unacceptable and makes this course difficult to recommend.
Spending $100+ here felt like dumping money into the water. The driveway and greens were poorly maintained, exactly as shown in past photo reviews.
We played here 11/6 with start time of 8:am. I have to say the poor reviews are unjust. Sure the bunkers need attention but the rest of the course is very playable. We had a lot of fun and will definitely be back. You'll meet Melissa in the club house after your round. Worth it!
Played Houston National for the first time yesterday. Greens fees were very reasonable and included lunch! Pro Shop employees were super friendly and helpful. The carts were very nice and comfortable with GPS. Only issue was parts of the course around holes 7 and 8 where I was on the cart path but the cart said I was in a restricted zone so I had to drive backwards to the 8th tee box lol. Overall the course was in great shape with just a few dry areas due to little rain this Fall. Greens were great, and challenging lol. The slope of the greens definitely made it challenging. The bar and grill was cool and the girl working there was terrific and friendly. Very positive experience and will definitely come back.
Character killed by lack of care. The golf course has a lot going for it. The layout is interesting and can be a good challenge. The greens and tee boxes are well maintained. The staff are friendly, and there’s regular refreshments on offer from the cart coming around while you play. Unfortunately, the course itself is so poorly maintained that it really ruined the experience for me. Pretty much none of the bunkers seem to be in play, given how poorly cared for they are, with many not having rakes either. If your ball lands in the rough there’s a good chance you won’t find it because of the piles of grass cutting everywhere. My wife and I both lost balls within feet of the fairway because of this having seen where the ball went. The drains and sprinkler heads are overgrown too. In summary, there are many far nicer maintained courses at this price point in the area, so I’d pick one of those before coming here. The second star was because of the curses potential, and the staff, it really wasn’t good.
