My coworker and I decided to try this spot for happy hour, and unfortunately, the customer service was shockingly poor. We had high hopes, which made the experience even more upsetting. We initially sat at the bar and were served by a bartender named Michelle, who immediately made us feel uncomfortable. When she finally approached us, instead of greeting us kindly, she snapped, “You have four minutes,” in a rude and dismissive tone before walking away. The price was never the issue—her attitude and lack of basic hospitality were alarming, especially for what appears to be a nice establishment. Because of how uncomfortable we felt, we asked the host to move us to another area so she would no longer be our server. Even after being moved, Michelle continued to look over at us repeatedly and give us nasty looks while we were eating, which made us feel extremely uncomfortable and honestly unsafe just trying to enjoy our meal. Unfortunately, the service did not improve. Our new server dropped off water glasses that were visibly dirty and stained. There was no apology. He didn’t return to the table until happy hour had already ended and then told us we could no longer order from the happy hour menu—despite the fact that we had tried to order earlier and explained the situation calmly. He reluctantly allowed one order but told us we could not order anything else from that menu. The entire situation was saddening. We were treated in a truly horrible manner by multiple staff members, and at no point did we receive a sincere apology. When we spoke to the manager, she resolved the issue by taking $10 off the bill. While this wasn’t about the money at all, the gesture felt insulting given how uncomfortable and disrespected we were made to feel. To make matters worse, even after speaking with the manager, the bartender continued to give us dirty looks. This experience left us feeling unwelcome and disappointed. We came in hoping for a relaxing happy hour and instead left feeling uncomfortable, upset, and shocked by the lack of professionalism.
Love the whole vibe of this place. Food was great, atmosphere was great and service was great. Only complaint was the wait for a table after having a reservation for a big party a head of time. And making our party of 14 wait almost 40 minutes past our resy. ~When a day before, they had to move our reservation up 30 minutes to accommodate adding an extra person to the party a day prior.
The entire dining experience, from the hostess to the waitstaff, was exceptional, and the sushi was outstanding. Having sampled around five to six sushi restaurants in Houston, I can confidently say this establishment stands out as the best in terms of flavor. Executive Chef Mike took the time to personally recommend dishes and provide detailed explanations, a level of engagement I have not encountered before. My respect for Chef Mike is immense, and I urge Michelin inspectors to visit this remarkable venue.
Had a really great first experience at Blue Sushi! All of our food came out quickly, delicious and fresh. The atmosphere is really cool, a cool and unique vibe and lighting. Our server Trent was fantastic. Came just frequent enough, had good recommendations and was thoughtful in allergy considerations. Will definitely be coming back.
Our first time visiting the Houston location and a great experience overall. Staff were friendly. We were seated quickly and our food came out really quick as well on a busy Saturday. Food was delicious and ambience was great. All day Happy Hour is wonderful!
