I have purchased dozens of books from Boffins over the years, both online and in store, and can confidently say I will never purchase from them again. Recently I ordered two books online from Boffins. An hour later I received an email stating that one of them was going to cost $17 more than the advertised price. When I questioned their staff member (via email), they told me it is 'impossible to keep the prices of the thousands of titles on our website current at all times'. BE WARNED: The price they advertise may not be the price you pay!

Never again! My first encounter with the staff in Boffins was a couple of years ago when I called them from work around 9am and asked if they could hold a book for me until my tea break at 11am as they only had one in stock (and I only had 15 mins to run out a grab it). The man I spoke to on the phone point blank refused and said they don't hold books but it would "probably still be available if I wanted to look for it at 11". I sourced the book at a shop near my home instead who were happy to hold the book until that evening. I recently decided to give Boffins a second chance as my husband was looking for 3 books and said they were all in stock in Boffins. I went in on my lunch break and while there my phone rang. I answered (quietly) but before I could even say much and elderly male staff member came up and psyically tipped me on the shoulder and told me no mobile phones in the shop and if I wanted to take a call I could go stand by the escalator. I didn't reply. I walked straight out of the store I bought the books from a lovely staff member at another shop in the city. I prefer to support smaller businesses but Boffins have the rudest retail staff I have ever encountered and I will not be giving them a third chance. I go through so many books a month and have told literally everyone I know not to bother with this store. They seriously need to train their staff in customer service.

A gem of a book store. Friendly staff, who encourage browsing (some amazing books!) and a chill, relaxed atmosphere with no loud music.

Hands down the best bookstore in Perth! They’ve got the broadest selection of books across every genre or niche interest imaginable. If they don’t have your desired book in stock, they can usually source it for you which is something I’ve not seen other stores do. Staff members are polite and knowledgeable and generally have a love of literature. If you are looking for a new book, look no further than Boffins Books, you won’t be disappointed!

What an absolutely delightful book store! I came across this by accident when I was looking for lunch and saw this tucked away at the bottom of an escalator. Below ground is a generous collection of books from so many different genres. Had such a lovely browse around. Staff are super friendly and helpful and I love that the staff write their own reviews for different series too to help share their perspective. Definitely recommend the visit.
