Great Italian food here. The Meatballs were amazing and the pasta was very good as well. My dad and brother said they enjoyed their pizza also. When next in Canberra we would certainly go back.

Located on the north side of the Melbourne building near the alley way between the two buildings, Briscola Italian offers a relaxed atmosphere for drinks, nibbles and a great meal. There are of course wine, beers and cocktails on the drinks menu, along with non alcoholic mocktails, juices, teas and coffees. The menu has pasta and pizza - as you'd expect - along with a variety of other mains and sharing plates. Desserts options include tiramisu, a dessert calzone, Pana cotta and a small variety of gelato. Service is friendly and they also do split bills. Worth a visit.

Overall experience was really good. The staff was polite and courteous, providing a pleasant dining experience. We were the first customers of the day, and although the food took a while to arrive, they acknowledged the delay and kindly offered a complimentary garlic bread, which we really appreciated. The virgin mojito was delicious, though it was a bit difficult to drink through the small straw as the passion fruit seeds kept getting stuck. The chicken pizza and Creamy Gnocchi were delicious Just on a bit expensive side.

The overall dining experience was disappointing. The staff member who first greeted us didn’t seem very welcoming and rarely smiled, which set a poor tone at the start. Other staff were fine, but the service overall felt a bit slow, perhaps because the restaurant was busy. When the food finally arrived, the portion of the Pollo Gamberi looked small and didn’t feel reasonable for the price. On top of that, the pizza did not taste authentic at all, the base tasted like it was pre-made, which was quite disappointing for an Italian restaurant. While the atmosphere was okay, the combination of service, food quality, and value for money made the experience less enjoyable than expected.

The food was absolutely delicious — it had a homely, comforting taste, clearly cooked with love and warmth. The service was decent, and everything was well presented. The pizza was cooked to perfection, and the pasta was rich and flavorful. I’ll definitely be visiting again!
