Good response and service. $450 to replace a drain ($20 part) that took 10 minutes. VERY expensive. Also, $100 "diagnosis" fee that's waived if you go ahead with the job, so you can't actually get a quote on a job without paying for it. I paid immediately after (3 days ago) and still no acknowledgement of payment.

We called Byams Plumbing to repair a leak in a pipe to our water heater. Within two hours of making the call, Chris was at our home to fix the problem. We are very happy with the quality of Chris’ work, as well as his friendliness and professionalism. But to top it off… a few hours after Chris left, we still did not have hot water. We called Byams, and Chris returned to our home with half an hour. Turns out the pilot light simply needed to be relit - something we should have been able to do ourselves. But Chris was happy to do it and said it was no bother at all. Such great customer service is rare these days. We’ll be repeat customers.

The plumber arrived quickly and completed the job, which I appreciated. However, I was initially concerned about the lack of transparency in their pricing. The invoice listed only a flat charge of $950 for about 3.5 hours of work, with no breakdown for parts or labour. From what I could tell, the materials used likely cost around $100, so the vague billing practices felt uncomfortable and unclear. After I followed up to request a detailed explanation, the owner contacted me directly. They took the time to review the situation and provided clarification, and we were able to reach a resolution. I appreciate their willingness to address my concerns. While my experience highlighted the importance of clearer communication about pricing and invoicing, I recognize the company made an effort to resolve the matter professionally.
