C1 Truck Driver Training

i graduated from c1 indianapolis in august 2009. 16 years later im still driving a semi everyday. i learned what i needed to pass my cdl tests and passed my written and driving tests the first try. dont expect to be a super trucker that knows everything when you leave here. you will learn what is needed to get you started in trucking. when you go to your first job they should have you with a trainer that will teach you the ins and outs of day to day trucking. c1 was time well spent for me to get started with my new career in trucking.

I just graduated from the Indianapolis location and let me start this by saying, Overall my experience was overwhelmingly positive. I was on the fence about choosing this school due to some of the negative reviews on here but I'm certainly glad I went ahead and completed my courses and state test through C1 Trucking. As far as the negative reviews state, I'm not sure what any of them are talking about being forced to write good reviews or being rushed through the whole process. At the end of your graduation you have the opportunity to write instructor reviews and give your opinions about what could be done better at the school. In no way shape or form are you pressured to write positive things. Although, I will say I had nothing negative to say to begin with. My take away from the bad reviews is people who either did not graduate or failed to learn in the appropriate amount of time needed to graduate on time. However, I did have a few complaints but nothing major.; I had the opportunity to choose between the Hotel Lodging and driving up there everyday. I ultimately chose just to drive up there everyday because the hotel did look and feel very sketchy and it is in a very high traffic area. Another issue is class size, Your amount of time allocated to inside a truck practicing is highly dependent on how big your class size is. One thing I suggested was limiting class sizes to four to five individuals a week to ensure a lot of time is utilized in the truck for each individual. In their defense though, I did start at a time when one of their senior instructors was retiring and they were in the process of hiring a new instructor. So we were short one instructor essentially. But I think limiting class sizes has its benefits still. Ed, Jenny, Vick, Jeff, Delle are all excellent field instructors and deserve more recognition for being so helpful. I know how monotonous and stressful it is being a trainer and they handle it well coming in everyday and still manage to interact positively with everyone of us and help us every step of the way. If you want my honest opinion, I say choose C1 for your choice of school. The first day is a little over whelming because everyone is trying to get situated and enrolled and get all the paperwork done. However, After that first day it instantly started to feel so much more welcoming and an environment solely focused on getting you prepared to pass your CDL exam. I have made some good friends along the way of my graduation and met some great people here. I would suggest this school to my family, friends and anyone looking to start their adventure into truck driving. Thank-you C1 and all the instructors who went above and beyond to help us when we needed it.

I had a great experience here at c1, they got my cdl very quick and made me understand what I needed to do to become a successful driver. C1 will help you with your air brake test, pre trip, as well as other skills they aren't needed for the state exam but could be actually helpful in the real world

As a veteran, I want to give an honest warning to anyone considering this school. C1 Trucking in Indianapolis is very misleading when it comes to their requirements and promises—especially for veterans. They were dishonest about the actual duration of the program, which caused major issues with planning and benefits. The lodging situation is terrible. The hotel they place you in is run down, unsafe, and full of drug activity. Bugs were everywhere—not only in the hotel but also in the training facilities and even in some of the trucks. These are the kinds of bugs you definitely don’t want to take home. I personally spent over $3,300 out of pocket just for a month of lodging, and it was an absolute waste. The instructors themselves openly admit they hate working there, and it shows in their attitude. The whole setup feels like a “get them in, get them out” money-making system. If you don’t live within 50 miles of the school, don’t expect any job assistance after you graduate—because you won’t get it. And if you’re coming from out of town, you’ll regret it. This place is not veteran-friendly despite how they market themselves. It felt like they cared more about collecting funds than providing real support. The only bright spots were Jeff and Ed—they are genuine souls who actually care about students and deserve far more recognition from this company. A few other staff members tried, but the good gets buried under the bad. Bottom line: • Dishonest about program details • Unsafe, ghetto lodging full of drugs and bugs • Instructors unhappy and unmotivated • Bug issues in facilities and trucks • No real job help unless you live local • Extremely expensive for what you get If you’re a veteran or traveling from out of town, do not waste your time or money here. I originally gave 5 stars at the time i just graduated and literally had to take a exit review sitting by one of the admin hovering behind me and then hit with the “ can you scan this QR code and leave us a review! You don’t have time to sit and write a review but i have time today! I waited just to see of they would keep their word about helping find a job of that was not the case let the admin tell it after two weeks of no response let me be clear they only pull job searches from a 50 mile radius of the school!

Staff was very helpful and instructor’s were driven, very knowledgeable and ambitious on helping you achieve the ultimate goal of passing for your state testing.
