Sandwiched between Grizzly Bear and Black Bear exhibits and the San Francisco Bay Overlook, it's a perfect spot for families to create lasting memories while enjoying the zoo's natural beauty. Zoo. This is in the zoo. Please be aware of this. There’s sand. Good luck! It’s great when it’s not packed full of nannies sitting on the grass taking up the space to run. While they don’t watch the kids there supposed to be watching.
Great playground with an awesome standing/sitting zip line, kids absolutely love it here. (Attached are photos of the Grizzly Bears which is an area on the wat/near the playground)
This playground have everything in just one site. You can visit the mountains, the desert, the forest and the sea in just one place. Literally it’s a dream come true for little explorers. You can visit a cave, walk around the creek, pretend that you are a bird in a big nest, climb the mountains and slide.
This place is beautiful and entertaining for the little ones. My kids play here for hours and its right next to the grizzly bear viewing area. It’s great to share new memories and relive old ones when I was a kid.
The play area is finally opened again after being shutdown for over year due to Covid! Great outdoor play area for kids to play and burn off energy. California Wilds! Playground is located in the California Trails in the Oakland Zoo, sandwiches between the Grizzly Bears and Black Bear exhibits and the San Francisco Bay Overlook. California nature themed play structures: a babbling water stream to get your feet wet, a mountain slide to climb up and go down, and a Pacific Ocean section with a sea lion, a whale, dolphins, and pelican to climb on, rolling green hills to run up and down, and lastly a sand box with a scorpion and sand tables. The only thing not available to climb on and ride was the zip line (as of May 30, 2021) There is no zoo crew to supervise the play or anyone official to clean the structures like your get when riding the Gondola up (each Gondola is sprayed with disinfectant after each group leaves the Gondola).
