My two best girlfriends and I had a wonderful stay at Calistoga Spa and Hot Springs! The rooms were clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with mini kitchens. The staff was friendly and helpful, the amenities were excellent, and the hot springs were absolutely delightful and relaxing. The hotel’s central location made it easy to walk almost everywhere, and we’ll definitely be back! We booked The Works spa package, which includes the mud bath and a massage and it was an incredible experience! We had never done a mud bath before and weren’t sure what to expect, but the staff made us feel completely comfortable from start to finish. Men and women are separated for the mud bath, and it’s a fully nude experience, but everything felt very professional and respectful. Each guest has an attendant who helps you get into and out of the mud — it’s thick and warm, and you kind of have to wiggle your way in! You’re in the mud for about 10 minutes, then you shower off and move into a mineral whirlpool bath for another 10–15 minutes. From there, you relax in a eucalyptus steam room for 5–10 minutes before being wrapped in a blanket to help your body temperature settle. That whole process including showering and resting in your blanket wrap takes about an hour. After that, our massage therapists came to escort us to private rooms for our massages, which were the perfect way to finish the experience. The entire process took about two hours (1 hour for the mud bath and another for the massage) and felt incredibly rejuvenating. As someone who was a bit nervous and new to spa experiences (and especially to the idea of public nudity), I really appreciated how kind, professional, and reassuring the staff were. The locker room is well-equipped, and the hotel provides robes to wear in the spa area, which made everything easy and comfortable. If you’ve ever been curious about trying a mud bath, I can’t recommend Calistoga Spa and Hot Springs enough, it’s relaxing, well-organized, and a truly unique experience!
Each time I return to Calistoga Spa and Hot Springs, I’m reminded why it’s my favorite getaway. The staff always greet me like an old friend, the pools are the perfect place to unwind, and the kitchenettes make every stay feel like home. It’s the kind of place you look forward to visiting again and again.
My boyfriend and I recently stayed at Calistoga Hot Springs for a night on September 11th, and we were extremely disappointed with the experience. We decided to return to Napa Valley and chose this property because it looked nice, and I was excited to try a mud bath for the first time. After a day of wine tasting, we checked in around 5 PM. The room was very small and outdated, but we let that slide since our main purpose was to enjoy the amenities. Since we were only booked for one night, our plan the next day was simple: have a nice breakfast, check out, then relax at the hotel until 1 PM. As we usually do when traveling, we leave our belongings at reception (or this time, in the car) and enjoy the amenities before leaving. To our surprise, the front desk told us that in order to use the amenities after check out, we would need to pay an additional 50 dollars per person. While we understand that every hotel has its own policies, this situation was frustrating for several reasons: Lack of transparency - Had my boyfriend (a very detailed planner) known about this charge ahead of time, he would have scheduled our day differently. This should have been disclosed clearly upon check in. No written house rules - Unlike nearly every hotel we’ve stayed at, Calistoga Hot Springs provided no printed information inside the room. Most hotels offer a simple guide or house rules sheet covering policies, amenities, and charges. This property had nothing, leaving guests completely uninformed. Poor communication - The reception staff never informed us about this important policy at check in. Proper communication could have avoided this unpleasant surprise. Overall, our stay was not enjoyable, and I would not recommend Calistoga Hot Springs to anyone. The rooms are basic, the customer service is careless, and the additional 50 dollars per person just to use the pool after check out feels less like a policy and more like a blatant money grab. For the price they charge per night, this place is absolutely not worth it and borders on dishonest practices. Additional: Simple fix - add important information to your "blank" FAQ page.
We booked a weekend room for my aunt and uncle to celebrate a mini honeymoon after their wedding. Overall, the hotel staff was mixed on being helpful with the booking. There were no options for room upgrades (like wine or chocolates delivered to the room for special occasion events,) and even though we asked the staff to at least acknowledge their wedding as a celebration, no one ever did. My aunt requested the room to be cleaned and they never showed. 2 stars for attentiveness. A bump for the location. One of the thing, I booked them massages and I specifically requested that they be at the same time and two females and they ended up with separate times by 15 minutes and a male and a female which they did not prefer. They do not offer couples massages :/
I had such a wonderful stay here! From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely amazing! every staff member went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. I went with my boyfriend and our service dog ( who had fun as well) The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the attention to detail truly made my experience unforgettable.. I can’t recommend this hotel enough and will definitely be coming back on my next visit to Calistoga!
