My children participate and truly enjoy every moment of it. Initially, only my daughter was involved, but later, I signed my son up as well. They are always paired together during their activities, and we attend twice a week. They eagerly look forward to these sessions each time. My children cherish these special moments, and I appreciate how the instructors consistently make them feel welcome.

We love the swim program at Callan. The instructors are great with the kids and teach them proper swimming building blocks and then all strokes to prepare for swim team. We started our kids as infants and are happy we have done the long term lessons. Our 4 year old can swim freestyle, backstroke, and is working on breaststroke and starting butterfly components. We are very happy.

I brought my two-year-old child here because I'd heard from friends that Callan's approach worked well for this age. But after just a few 20 minute lessons, our instructor was replaced without our knowledge by someone who had only been shadowing for two weeks. This instructor rushed the rapport with my child and dunked my toddler before she was ready. My toddler immediately cried and wanted to leave the pool. The next class, she begged me not to take her. When we got to the pool she cried so hysterically that I had to abort the lesson. It broke my heart. We brought our girl to Calan because we wanted her to feel confident and brave in water. Instead, she is now terrified of it. It seems that the management does not quite understand the delicacy of working with children at this age.

We chose Callan Swim School because of its 60+ years proven method, small class sizes, prime location by Mission Beach and its military discount. What keeps us coming back is the outstanding community there. Every class we are welcomed by name at the front desk. Ms. Marcy the manager celebrates every student's birthday with a goodie bag that is adorable and thoughtful. All the adults are extremely friendly and supportive. I'm thrilled to not need to dodge any competitive parent small talk. The pool is designed for learning to swim with implements like underwater benches and bars, the pool's size and depth and large "steps" kids can play on before their lesson to acclimate into the water and have some fun. Every swim instructor is outstanding, each has a different vibe so you can pick the one your swimmer responds best to. (Personally I love someone kind and fun but firm with expectations. Emely and Laura have worked great for my kids). Within 2 months my baby went from shuddering if you put water drops on his head to holding his breath underwater and gliding for several seconds *happily*. My two-year-old went from water wary to jumping into the pool and swimming almost an entire short pool length by herself. We love our swim lesson days!

Murray Callan Swim School is the best! My 10 month old daughter has been taking lessons there for the past few months and is already holding her breath under water for a few seconds- amazing! The instructors are patient, wonderful and very experienced swim instructors for all ages. My daughter hasn't even cried once! The pool is very warm and the facility is super clean. Kelsey, her instructor, has made our first swim experience excellent! A few of my coworkers recommended Murray Callan as the best swim school in San Diego! I give it a 5 out of 5 stars!
