I would like to thank Ryan Hatcher for helping guide me through my college application process and for going above and beyond to ensure I had the best possible chances for success. When I started working with Ryan, I was extremely concerned about the feasibility of creating applications that would stand out to all 26 of the schools that I applied to. However, Ryan made time to work with me every time I requested help: he spent multiple hours helping me perfect my essays each day during Thanksgiving and winter breaks; he assisted me in editing an external paper I wrote on hegemonic models; and he met with me to discuss college choices even after the application process was entirely over. Ultimately, with Ryan's dedication to my future and constant help, I was accepted to many of my top-choice schools, including Columbia, Cornell, UC Berkeley, USC, and Emory. Looking back, I couldn't have asked for anything more from a college counselor---Ryan's guidance through the college admissions process allowed me to present myself in the best possible light, and left me extremely happy with my family's choice to work with Ryan.
To say that Corin was a great help is an understatement! My brother and parents had all recommended Corin to me to guide me and help manage my time, and I figured they were right. During the summer break between my junior and senior years, I first started working with Corin. I didn't really know anything specific that I wanted to work on in college, as I liked a lot of different things, but I didn't know which one would be the best option for me. Corin worked closely with me throughout the year to help me figure out who I was, asking me about what I wanted to do, and having the space to really think about his questions helped me figure what I wanted to do in college. Corin had me work during the summer on my UC PIQ's, but slowly helped me tackle the larger application each week. Having worked on a new and unique section of the application each week (instead of cramming all my work into a few days) helped mitigate all the burnout that my classmates were feeling. Overall, Corin was great in changing my habits into something more productive, and I am eternally grateful for that. Throughout the entire application season, and even after, Corin has been amazing to work with. He was always kind and never made me feel like my questions were stupid (even when they were) and he was always cooperative, taking on the brunt of the work when it came to reviewing and managing my essays. There's so much more to my experience with Corin that I would like to thank him for, and I hope the people he counsels in the future feel the same way. I would 100% recommend Corin to anyone who needs his services, as he is amazing at his job.
This review is 2 years in the making – TLDR; Capitol College Counseling is absolutely amazing. From start to finish, the program CCC put my son through exceeded our expectations in every way and made me a happy parent. More context - As with a lot of parents, it can be a little intimidating helping your child navigate the process of college preparation given the vast and ever changing information. From test scores, to filling out applications, the entire process can be overwhelming. However, at Capitol College Counseling, Corin and Ryan were not only incredibly knowledgeable but also showed deep investment in my son's growth and success. From day one, Corin took a very personalized approach to get to know my son. He emphasized that it wasn't about just getting into a college, but finding the right fit for his academic and personal growth. Corin took tremendous time to understand my son's strengths, interests, fears and aspirations. From there, he met with my son regularly to cover everything from his grades, SAT/ACT preparation, extracurricular activities, even the personal essay that would set him apart from the rest of applicants. To my pleasant surprise, Corin even went as far as to advise colleges that we hadn’t initially considered but he believed would align with my son's aspirations. I work in sales, so I understand the concept and benefit of long-term relationship-building with clients. But to have someone dedicate this much effort for a teenager over the course of 2 years, is simply amazing. With all of this, I’m happy to write this review. I can now proudly say my son has begun his first year at Brown University (though there were several other schools we considered) and loving it. Words cannot describe how proud I am of my son. Simply put, I’m extremely satisfied as a customer. Thank you Corin and Ryan for going above and beyond to make sure my son and I felt comfortable and well-informed throughout this whole process!
I wholeheartedly recommend Corin Hamilton. Corin worked with my youngest of 3 to apply to 10 schools, that ultimately resulted in a successful result. For my older two children, I also worked with a college counselor to apply to college. I can honestly say that Corin was patient, kind and focused on exactly what my youngest wanted. Corin had a very structured process that helped narrow the college selection process. He was knowledgeable and up-to-date about what the process was at each school that made the short list of 10 schools that our child applied to. This was especially helpful on the heels of COVID, where every process had special circumstances. Clearly, Corin had real world experience that was based upon his latest work with others. Corin tailored his thoughts to help our child to narrow her choices that focused on her specific needs. Corin then looked at the attributes that made her most attractive to the school that would be reviewing her application - prioritizing her accomplishments, academics, awards, extracurriculars, etc., that would demonstrate who she was. Ultimately, this work resulted in 100% success! She was fortunate to receive acceptances to ALL 10 schools that she applied to - with meaningful scholarships to each school! Thank you Corin!
Corin is the greatest! He was patient, thoughtful, flexible and kind. Every time I had a question, he took the time to get to the core of what my concern was. I truly feel that Corin help me develop an application that reflected me. He directed me to the universities that had all the qualities that I wanted and then helped to focus on those schools. On each tour of all the schools that applied to, I could see myself being successful at that campus. I fortunate to be offered acceptance to ALL the colleges that I applied to - with meaningful scholarships! When it came to deciding on my chosen university, Corin helped me to narrow in on the schools that made the short list. While he did not direct me to one school over another, he helped me to navigate what was most important to me. I ultimately chose a school that I feel totally comfortable with, and my dream school. I would most definitely recommend Corin without ANY reservation. He is truly a great individual.
