Local to Jacksonville but never been here before. Definitely did not disappoint! Sunshine was wonderful and made sure we were well taken care of. She was super friendly and explained the whole menu to us so we knew what to look at and offered fantastic suggestions too! The food was incredible and very filling. We got the Chicago style pizza - home on the range, and it was delicious! My oldest got the “whatever” panini and LOVED it, the youngest loved that they cut his slice up for him too! Don’t sleep on the desserts either y’all! They have a great selection made by a local baker. All around this place is pretty amazing. Could use a little updating, but the place is old and it honestly just adds to the charm. If you’re looking for Chicago style pizza, this is the spot! 100% Will return and bring friends.
Not clean by my standards. One of us got a piece of hair in the wings. Large portions of pasta. Friend said he liked it anyway, but the sausage with the manicotti dish was blackened (burned) — see photo… Bathrooms are gross — also photos… Beer tasted nasty like somebody peed in it. Server was very nice but she hollered so loud she hurt my ears. Hardly any coating on the fried pickles. The folks I was with thankfully didn’t seem to be too bothered by any of these things, but I’m picky when it comes to a food establishment. Peace!
I went to Carmine's Pie House with my volunteer family. The atmosphere was inviting and friendly. The wait staff was very accommodating for our large group. The food was excellently prepared. Other groups were there as well as families. It is a great place to dine with a group or family. The food portions are large for the price. I will definitely return.
Took a chance on trying to get in here. It is small and was packed so we found tonight spots at the bar. It was extremely busy with eat-in and takeouts. So service wasn’t exactly the best but they were busy. Trying to get parking and seats was also stressful. They are in a sketchy area so this place is best for an earlier meal. We got there at 5pm and being kind enough to hold the door for others cost us the last available table booth seat. But the bar seating provided a great view of the kitchen and many different meals coming out. The cook staff ran like a well oiled machine!! Everyone had a job and mission in food prep and all appeared to work meticulously, cleanly, and efficiently. Considering the amount of customers in and out they did great trying to keep up. That being said it did take a little bit to get our food, about 30minutes, but I will say a beer and chit chat helped. But when the food came out it was definitely worth the wait. Got the mushroom ravioli dish and a Chicago deep dish with meatball and pepperoni. That deep dish was so filling you could just about get 4 meals out of it. The ravioli dish was great with some really nice flavor and taste. Will definitely be back for another visit here but will probably plan it as a takeout if it is a weekend dinnertime like when we went.
Outstanding Deep Dish and Even Better Hospitality! My husband and I discovered Carmine's Pie House during a recent lunch date, and what an incredible find it was! From the moment we walked through the door, we felt genuinely welcomed by the warm atmosphere and friendly faces. The highlight of our visit was meeting Carmine himself - the owner personally greeted us, which immediately set the tone for what would be an exceptional dining experience. You can tell this man truly cares about his restaurant and his customers, and that passion shows in every aspect of the business. We ordered the Chicago Style Deep Dish, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it ranks among the best we've ever had. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside yet tender inside, the sauce had that ideal balance of herbs and richness, and the cheese was melted to perfection. Every bite was a reminder of why deep dish pizza is such a beloved classic. Our server Victoria deserves special recognition - she was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The entire staff clearly takes pride in providing excellent service. Carmines Pie House didn't just serve us great food; they created a memorable lunch date experience that reminded us why supporting local, family-owned businesses is so rewarding. We're already planning our next visit and can't wait to try more of their menu. If you're in Jacksonville and craving authentic, high-quality pizza with service that makes you feel like family, Carmines Pie House is an absolute must-visit!
