Insanely delicious tacos!! It’s always a gamble trying ‘viral’ spots - but this place did not disappoint. The location was beautiful, workers were friendly & food came out so quick - everything was so flavourful and fresh. Ordering using the QR code is always a plus in my books. We tried the classic beef, baja fish and prawn tacos. Very generous sized tacos, and the cheese crust is such a nice touch. Would recommend getting 2 tacos if you’re hungry! Also tried the strawberry jalapeño margarita- was yummy, only thing I’d suggest is to make it more spicy (It didn’t really have much of a kick for a spicy marg). Can’t wait to eat here again next time we’re back in Canberra!

Had a few issues trying to use the online booking system. But we tried our luck on the day and were seated. Order from your table through an app. Tacos are large and delicious. Cocktails even more so. Great place to eat and enjoy a drink. Will definitely be back.

Had the sponge cake on a Sunday. It was a normal tasting cake, not bad but not impressive either and definitely not worth the price. Was also charged 10% due to weekend plus service charge so paid $25 for a basic sponge cake with tasteless cream on top. The tacos are $15/piece! So if you're looking to get a normal sized meal of tacos which would be 3-4 tacos, you'd be spending $60! I'm sorry but this is Mexican street food, let's stop extorting people over whats traditionally cheap and quick comfort food. Vibe was harrid and basic. Seats are hard and uncomfortable. Quite a small place overall.

Very interesting, wasn't a bad time but wasn't great either on the service and food. I really enjoyed what I ordered, the pulled pork tacos with pineapple ( if I remember correctly) and the dessert was 10/10 but some of the food did come out cold. Service was all over the shop. Our food runner was fabulous and very helpful, I wish i ask for her name. But some of the food didn't turn up and then was sold out. ( Was told we would get a refund but my parents never received it) Some of the staff was just standing there talking and not very helpful and others was working very hard. Update: my parents did end up getting there refund, just took a lot longer then they said.

Have been here a few times now and it has been mindblowing every time. The food is insanely good - amazing portion size and flavours that pack a punch! As a person who doesn’t like coriander or avocado (I know, I know) sometimes Mexican is an embarrassing choice but Cartel has SO many options and are always more than happy to remove things with zero stress. Dessert is an absolute must every time - the tres leches cake is other worldly and the churros are the perfect balance of crispy outside and soft inside. Always a stop when in Canberra but not gonna lie I have driven the 3 hours from Sydney before just for a taco… Will be back again and again and again. Also Anna the owner is the best and has created the most immaculate vibes with every little touch and attention for detail.
