Double Date Night About a month ago my husband decided we needed an indulgent meal from Uber Fancy Pants destination Casa Bovina. The Big Baby Childrens joined us. The Fine Dining experts they are, it was a return visit. For the 2 of us it was a first in the House of Cow. Although I thought I'd properly done my homework in studying the ever changing menu, it was yet another updated version at our table. Our server said they are likely still able to make items from recent menus but we all stayed with the current one. The childrens ordered Specialty cocktails and my husband a glass of Cabernet. We started with like half of the appetizers and passed around the table. The Burrata and Focaccia which was delivered later on, the bread was nice but the other didn't have much flavor. The salad was yummy. They all Loved the Coiettas made from Filet Mignon, also strangely the only beef ordered. The big surprise was the Casserole, similar to the Thanksgiving staple, but on steroids... huge hit! Onto the entrees. The Boy Child decided on the spectacle that is Tajarin Della Forma. Pasta rolled in a giant flaming cheese wheel done tableside. He thought it was one of the best dishes he'd ever had! It was sooooo rich but I'm glad I got to try it. The Girl Child went with the Gnocchi covered in seafood. This is totally her jam, it was excellent as well. My husband was drooling over his Duck entree. Served with Polenta and Cherries, etc., he said it was the best he'd ever had! I chose the Black Cod. The fish was like Buh.Ter. it literally melted in my mouth and the sauce was heavenly. Desserts to share. The Chocolate Mi Cuit with raspberry accompaniments. The childrens especially enjoyed this one. The Creme Brulee, which I'm not normally a fan of, was ridiculous. I had multiple bites before passing it along. Plus a couple more after dinner drinks. The Boy loved his Sweet Cherry Rye and Stone 75 but the Girl Child and I didn't really care for ours. Our server Emma-Frances was new but very knowledgeable and attentive. I think the staff got a kick out of watching us picking apart and sampling every component. Menus for our meal are in the photos. I understand now how this place has earned its reputation. You are paying for an Experience. Definitely The place for a special occasion! Originally posted to EAT IT in Lincoln, NE on Facebook
My husband brought me here for my birthday and we had a fantastic dining experience. The ambience was perfect, the food immaculate, and the service outstanding. We got the gemelli pasta and NY steak and both were so delicious. We can't wait to return and try their tasting menu in a different season. 🥩
It's possibly the only establishment in Lincoln that could really be called *"fine dining". It is farm to table, with the vegetable garden, beef processing center and Mercato store on sight. The cows are raised by Nebraska farmers and exclusively of the Italian, Peidmontese, variety. Everything was cooked and served with excellence and care. If you're prepared to spend $100 or more per person, I doubt you will be disappointed.
This was the most incredible dinner that either one of us had ever had. Fair warning, it is also the most expensive we have ever had. But you do really get what you pay for. The entire experience is well curated. We did the tasting menu. Not only did we get what was on the menu, but they also had amuse-bouche dishes which were extra and just delivered as additional gifts of things to try. Every person who stopped by our table told us happy anniversary. I dropped my napkin at one point, a woman appeared almost immediately with a new one. After our meal, they even took us on a small private tour of their private dining area and wine cellar. We will absolutely be back.
Casa Bovina offers a true luxury dining experience with exceptional service, beautifully presented dishes, and a refined atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, you can tell that great attention is given to every detail, from the elegant decor to the impeccable hospitality. The food was absolutely delicious, with flavors that were carefully crafted and plated with precision. A special compliment to the chef for creating such a memorable dining experience—the dishes were expertly prepared and full of rich, complex flavors. However, be prepared for very small portions. While the quality of the food is outstanding, the serving sizes reflect the upscale nature of the restaurant, meaning you might leave still feeling hungry if you’re expecting a more filling meal. I had the duck, which was flavorful and expertly prepared, but if you have a bigger appetite, I’d recommend ordering a steak instead, as it might be a more satisfying option. Additionally, it’s a very expensive place. The luxury comes with a hefty price tag, so expect to pay quite a bit for the overall experience. While it’s certainly worth it for a special occasion or if you’re seeking fine dining, be mindful of the cost. Overall, Casa Bovina is a fantastic choice for high-end dining, especially for special occasions where you want to experience exquisite flavors and a refined atmosphere. Just keep in mind the smaller portions and premium pricing, and plan accordingly if you’re looking for a more substantial meal.
