Played 18 holes here for the 1st time and the staff was great and very helpful! I was visiting so I needed rentals as well and they were good clubs, not just the cheep clubs most places have. Had a great time with the wife and would definitely come back.
As the reviews say, hidden little course in middle of nowhere. Different elevation tee boxes and greens made this experience wonderful. The course itself is well maintained and in great shape. Only downside was the pace of play, running into slower players and since the fairways were narrow there were times we had to wait for players to get out of my fairways to hit.
Nice little Dallas municipal with a deep history. Course was in great condition. Fairway, greens, tee boxes and traps all maintained nicely. The views of Downtown Dallas on a few holes is fabulous. Go give it a try you won't be dissapointed.
Ok, let me level set here. I am rating Cedar Creek 5 stars. It is not Pebble Beach, The Old Course, or Bethpage Black. However, as a total package of value, challenge, history, course conditions, and design, this is a great course. Pros - Great layout. Lots of ample fairways with a smattering of trees throughout. Lots of elevation change, which out of towners might not expect of a Dallas course. Some cool views of downtown Dallas on the back 9 holes. - Facilities are nice. Driving range is a bit on the small side but sufficient for even a steady weekend pre-round warmup. Putting greens and chipping areas are well maintained. Clubhouse is very nice for a muni. - The condition of the course overall was excellent. Bermuda tee boxes and fairways and tiff eagle Bermuda greens. Fairways are well grassed with very, very few bare areas. All the bare areas are underneath the trees. - Price is excellent. $50 for my Thursday morning round was a great value for this place. Cons - I had a miserably difficult time trying to book online. I tried from three different devices, including a Windows-based laptop, and could never book a tee time online. So I just went to the course as I was playing as a single. - Pro shop staff were inundated both when I called on my way to the course in an attempt to reserve a time over the phone. I was on hold 10 minutes before I hung up and just waited until I got to the course. While standing in line at the Pro Shop I heard two more people get out on permahold who ultimately hung up like I did. That needs some work. - this is not criticism of the course; rather, it is criticism for us golfers. If you are playing as a twosome and you are holding up foursomes behind you, either pick up your pace or let people play through. We had a twosome in front of our group of 4. Man, they were like Sergio Garcia when he had “the waggles” over every shot. They used aim point for every putt…and I mean EVERY PUTT. And they walked up to look at green slope even when hitting 75 yard pitch shots. Please don’t be those guys. And do us a favor, fix your ball marks on the green once you finally hit the ball after 14 waggles and aim pointing your 3-putts. Overall, Cedar Crest was a great experience. I got to make some new friends and we had some great conversations along the way. The only thing that would have made today better for me would have been to not 3-putt four times after hitting the green in regulation. I still haven’t figured out how to putt these greens! Hit ‘em straight!!
I was able to book a tee time for my group seven days prior. My clubhouse greeting wasn't the best. While hitting balls on the range, Marshall informed us that it was cart path only. They were preparing the course for the Southwest Showcase @ Cedar Crest. I loved the layout, but the greens are small, so be mindful of that. The facility is clean and easy to navigate. Overall, it's a fun course and I look forward to playing it again.
