Me and my pet love city dogs! Everyone who works here is so friendly and good at what they do. My havanese, Strawberry, has been groomed by Jay, Jorge, and Tammie, and they all do a fantastic job. I’ve also met the owner, Bernie, a few times and she has always been very bubbly and sweet. Tammie is usually our go-to and always makes Strawberry (who is a little anxious) feel comfortable and safe. She always comes back looking super cute, smeling great, and very happy. Highly recommend coming here for a good groom!
My new go-to. I trust anyplace that puts their whole operation out in the open with no back rooms or hiding places. And the scheduling availability is WAY better than any other groomer I've seen.
Their service doesn't match their premium pricing. First visit, Jay's bathing was excellent, but subsequent visits with others disappointed. My recent appointment was a disaster - 3-hour delay with no communication, groomer substitution without notice, and no compensation offered despite my dog waiting in a small enclosure for hours. For their high prices and strict late pickup rule to customers, I expect consistent quality and proper accountability when mistakes happen on their end.
I have the cutest dog this place has ever seen…. made him look like an 80s freak! They do awful cuts as the reviews have stated… take your dog anywhere else especially if it’s a poodle (unless you want it to look stupid.
Bad cut, impatient service, will not recommend. This was my first and last time at City dogs. I think the groomer was Javier. I showed him the look I wanted(pic 1 below), asked him 3 times if he wants me to send him the photo so he has a reference. He said no, and was confident and says he knows the cut, I mentioned it’s a specific style called Asian poodle cut. Also mentioned I’d like the face to be rounded vs. longer, he didn’t want the photo. So I trusted that he knew what he was doing. When I came to pick up my pup, it was bad to say the least. To be fair, my pup does have a decent amount of matting(they charge extra to brush it out, I paid) so I wasn’t expecting it to be the same with the photos but the face was very different. She had long ears, longer hair under her chin, the top of her head was not hooded, it was bad…. I asked Javier to maybe at least fix the ears and the chin to be shorter, I showed him the photo again. He was very confident and start fixing it, then it just got shorter and shorter, I tried stopping him a couple of times by saying thank you, that’s fine, but he kept on making them shorter, so eventually I said i think it’s fine, it’s getting worse. He immediately got upset, asked me the same question back. I didn’t want to engage or complain because it didn’t seem like he wanted to work with me to fix it. So I just said I think she was too matted this time and it’s hard to get the look. Said thank you, paid $145 and left. These photos were taken after he had fixed the ears and the chin. If you have a poodle and want an Asian style cut, this isn’t your place. I’m sure others might be very happy with their service but I wasn’t really impressed with the skill or the service. Hope this is helpful to other dog owners.
