I have really enjoyed getting familiar with reformer pilates. I had a medical issue right at the start of my membership that I didn’t get on hold before loosing a lot of classes. The manager has been so accommodating in expanding my window of time to have access to the classes. It seems this studio is growing along with me as I get stronger which feels great. I also appreciate that the classes have space and I don’t have to be on a waitlist or schedule a month ahead.
New to the classes but I feel I’ve been challenged by the workouts. I have been sore after every class. I like the variety in the classes and the fact that the classes are small enough to get attention when you need it. The instructors have been really nice and focused on making the classes accommodating. They also offer a variety of ways to do the exercises to make them more/less difficult depending on what you need.
I moved into the Nob Hill area Of Albuquerque in June 2025. Shortly after the move, I decided to start taking better care of myself. I am 73 and just turned 74 and I’m overweight and out of shape. I had never tried Pilates before and was excited to see the new studio opening up in my neighborhood. I was hooked after the introductory class which was provided at no charge. I was signed up for regular sessions and have completed about 12. I’m going to go twice a week. I’m already noticing significant improvement in many aspects of my basic health. My posture, my gait, and chronic low back pain are all better. All of the teachers are enthusiastic, well trained, organized. They run right on time and have specific tasks to take all of us through. They have been very helpful for me at times when I can’t quite reach the loops on the equipment, or help me modify an exercise to accommodate my physical limitations. The place is always clean, has nice light and a truly good vibe
This place is a total disaster. The studio is so small it feels like they shoved reformers into a broom closet. Equipment is crammed in the aisles and if there was a fire, good luck getting out. Nothing about this setup feels safe. The parking garage is disgusting. It is dark, sketchy, and flat-out unsafe. People are loitering around the cars, and the last time I went, I had the pleasure of stepping out of my car and seeing a giant turd sitting in the middle of the road. Yes, actual fecal matter. That is the welcome you get before your overpriced “wellness” class. The classes are just as bad. Instructors are inexperienced, low-energy, and only capable of teaching boring beginner routines. There is no challenge, no spark, and when the music inevitably cuts out, one of them even thought it was cute to joke about playing showtunes next time. I am not paying $250 a month to listen to the air conditioner buzzing. And the manager? Completely unprofessional. She locks the doors during classes and hops on a reformer herself. The phone rings, people are waiting outside, and she ignores it all so she can get her workout in. That is not leadership, that is selfishness. Club Pilates Nob Hill is filthy, unsafe, and overpriced. It is run like a hobby instead of a business. Go to an actual pilates class that actually gives a damn about their clients
I went to Club Pilates Nob Hill the other afternoon for an intro class and decided to sign up for an unlimited membership. While I liked the kinds of exercises we did in the intro class, I felt it was not particularly taxing, and I went back later for a regular class. I was disappointed to find that I was too tall to use the equipment for some exercises. I was even more disappointed by the Club Pilates staff’s reaction to the problem. Rather than adjusting the equipment, they told me it didn't actually matter that I could not perform the exercise through the whole range of motion. Then they suggested I buy a private session so we could workshop a way to get the whole range of motion without adjusting the machine. [Edit: I should add, I'm 6' tall, so, not short, but hardly a giant either. If you are over 5'9 you should exercise extra caution dealing with this club.] I would have been happy to help them come up with a solution for free, but at $243/month, they should be prepared to make their equipment work for their clients. That is not the case. The bizarre thing is that the equipment is built with cam cleats to secure the rope. Cam cleats are a piece of hardware commonly used in sailing to quickly release, adjust, and resecure lines. The adjustment would have likely taken about thirty seconds. Now they are refusing to issue a full refund for the membership.
