This is the third house we have built and the experience greatly surpassed the previous ones. As it was our first time selecting contemporary architecture, I confess to being a bit unsure. All worries immediately evaporated as we worked with Jim. His attention to detail and responsiveness to client wishes exceeded expectations. Because of Jim's design talent and building competence, the process was fluid, flawless and ahead of schedule. And we have the most "user friendly" house imaginable. A perfect marriage of form and function. I would award more stars if I could.
My wife and I have a modern home that we purchased from the builder. After 7n years we realized that we needed to rethink the front of the home from a design and materials perspective. What we had was not up to our standards. We knew that in order to achieve our design objectives we needed to find a terrific architect that focused on contemporary design. We did extensive research and found Jin Evans the lead at Collaborative Design. As soon as we met Jim and understood his exacting sense of design, we knew he was our architect. The experience with Jim was ideal. From the design discussion stage that was well done to the work to develop the actual plans, Jim made it so intuitive and his ideas were just better by a long shot than we would have developed alone. Jim also understood how to get the project done inside our anticipated budget and has overseen the development and execution of our project from design all the way through completion. Literally no detail was missed. Our home now has beautiful design, and detail that brings all the interfaces into harmony and perfect resolution. We are now just completing the project and the outcome exceeded our high hopes. Not once has there been any disappointment or tension. just great architecture and great execution. by the way Jim also selected the contractor Felix Chen owner of BHC Metro to work to deliver the job. They worked wonderfully together, and Felix was a fantastic contractor as well. Jim is a serious man and thinks through the details. He is modest, but if you pay attention you find that he is very respected in his field. He was the President of the Architecture association of Houston. I give Collaborative Designworks an A+
We have built 2 other homes before and this is by far the best experience we have had. Jim is knowledgeable, honest, and does great work. He is unpretentious and has a great eye for fluidity and functionality of space. We downsized from Bellaire and are enjoying our home in Montrose. Thank you Jim!
