Amazing Zendo. Genpo O'Neal cares very much for the Sangha.

A real diamond in the heart of the arts district. I'm surprised sometimes that more artists aren't into Zen. If word ever gets out this place will be packed, it's the archetypal Zen experience.

I am so grateful for finding Compassionate Ocean Zen Center. I've taken many classes there and joined as a member. It has literally changed my life! I recommend the inviting, calming and no judgment atmosphere.

The eight-week mindfulness class is an excellent way to both introduce and deepen this practice. It helped lower my stress and alleviate some pain issues. Over the weeks the group became a small community and both Joen and Michael are patient teachers. My mother was so impressed by the changes in me that she signed up too!

I cannot be very rational in reviewing Compassionate Ocean, because one of the founders was a key person in nurturing my own Zen practice when I was a very new beginner. I respect and trust both Joen and Michael deeply, and friends have found them good teachers and Compassionate Ocean a Dharma home.
