Manager Jason was highly attentive and demonstrated an outstanding commitment to customer service at The Cow and Sow. After an initial visit that fell short of expectations in his absence, he took personal responsibility for ensuring everything was put right and exceeded expectations. The sharing platter was beautifully presented, and this was my first experience trying Malbec wine, which I found very enjoyable. Overall, it is an excellent establishment and offers very good value for money.
This was a great meal for 2 very keen meat eaters. The service was impeccable, friendly, professional and helpful but not intrusive. Our porterhouse steak was perfectly cooked and the sides piping hot and delicious. The wine recommendation was spot on. Very convenient location and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you Jasmine, Kendys and Tiff.
We had a fantastic meal at Cow & Sow. From the moment we arrived the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly – nothing was too much trouble. The food was outstanding. The roast was cooked perfectly – tender meat, crispy potatoes, rich gravy, and a Yorkshire pudding with the ideal puff. The bread to start was fresh and full of flavour, especially with the butter and oil. Dessert finished things on a high note, comforting, generous, and absolutely delicious. Overall, a brilliant meal with great quality ingredients, skilled cooking and service that made us feel welcome. We’ll definitely be returning! 🍽👏
I had tried this restaurant before and did not have the best experience. But every place deserves a second chance right? I am so glad that I did because this time around it was fantastic. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and it had a lovely cosy atmosphere. Our steak was cooked to perfection and the crispy onion blossom was definitely a hit. Our waiter,Kieran, was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. I was even given a burnt caramel torte as a very welcoming birthday treat. Thank you for making our night special
The venue is lovely, very atmospheric and romantic however we experienced poor service and very disappointing desserts. Blooming onion was very enjoyable, great dip and exciting presentation. Steaks were great, we opted for the £15.5/100g option. Exceptionally good steak, cooked perfectly with tasty well seasoned chips. Mac&Cheese was very bland, had good pull but unseasoned and had a strong raw flour taste. Wouldn't think about it again. Desserts were very poor, honeycomb had a prominent burnt sugar taste, bitter and inedible. Creme Brule was completely liquid, it was either melted during the sugar torching or hasn't set yet from the original oven time, I drank it and the flavour wasn't enjoyable either. Our biggest issue during the meal was service - or lack of it. We spent 3 hours at the restaurant when tables are reserved for I believe 90 minutes, this wasn't by choice. Everything took so long, Maggie our server sat us, took our drink order and we didn't see her till she said they need the table back 3 hours later. Other members of staff brought our drinks, took our food and dessert orders. We didn't see the same person twice. Starter came out quickly but we had quite a wait between starter and main, then quite a wait for dessert. We flagged a member of staff down for the bill after dessert, we didn't get it for over 30 minutes and at that point Maggie asked for the table back. This wasn't a particularly good experience even if the steak was good. The restaurant was not full, we had dinner fairly early so I can't attribute the poor service to high volume of guests. I wouldn't visit again, there is a lot of good steak restaurant in Birmingham that can offer better service.
