My family and I took a cooking class at Cultivate Kitchen, and it was such a wonderful experience! The food we made was absolutely delicious, and the class was fun and engaging from start to finish. Barbara and Monte were exceptional instructors — they not only guided us through each step with patience and expertise but also shared so many helpful tips we can use when cooking at home. We left inspired and excited to try out what we learned. Highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves good food and great company!
My partner and I had a great time learning a bunch of new holiday appetizers here. I liked that we learned lots of new techniques, food options/how to modify things, and generalizable skills. The instructor Ken did a great job teaching and also answering my many questions, and Monty kept things running smoothly behind the scenes and also answered some of my questions - a great team. It was a fun and educational date, and they even let us take home a bunch of leftovers at the end which will be another meal for us. Thank you so much!
Ken and Dexter were wonderful chefs that made the cooking experience that much better. Ken had a lot of fun facts about food that always kept our large 11-person group entertained. He also expertly crafted the menu for all our preferences and dietary restrictions. The fall(ish)-themed food we made was comprised of three courses: delicata squash tartlets, pollo a la brasa, and matcha white chocolate molten lava cakes. We were full by the end of the night (it was just the right amount of food) and it was all delicious. Cultivate owner Colleen was also very accommodating when planning the event and was always quick to respond. I appreciate all the staff from Cultivate Kitchen making our double birthday celebration such a success.
I took the Knife Skills on September 13th and it was incredible!! As an adult who has been cooking for myself for many years, but who never actually learned basic cutting techniques, this class was literally life-changing. Already in 24 hours I have saved so much time in my own kitchen (and I have a toddler so time-savings is a must.) The space itself is spotless and airy, in a great neighborhood (close to a coffee shop too which was so nice before the class). The class was super practical, fast-paced and included a LOT of practice of different cuts on different fruits and vegetables. We always learned the "official" French kitchen cut and then adapted it for home cooking, which I really appreciated. Ken, the instructor, was engaging and hilarious, while also giving actionable feedback to each participant. I went by myself and I was worried that it would be awkward because I didn't know anyone but the majority of participants were on their own too, and we were so busy during the class that it was fine if you didn't know anyone beforehand. I was also worried about the length of the class - 3 hours?! - but it went by so fast and every single minute was useful. If you are a home cook who wants to up your game, and never learned any of the "correct" techniques, I can't recommend the Knife Skills class enough!! I look forward to trying out the other classes and bringing my husband next time!!
Ken taught us amazing skills in the Cook for Yourself class. We made a whole chicken, chicken breasts (paillard) and salad with an easy dressing made from scratch, roasted vegetables, smashed potatoes, and zucchini pasta. Ken is a great teacher! I may take the class again when I have more energy. We got to eat the food we made so we got dinner out of it too! I loved this class so much and took some leftovers home :) I learned cooking skills to bring to every dish! You don't just learn recipes - you learn the principals of good cooking as well.
