I haven’t been here for a while, but they do have the Deaf dance festival here which is really cool! After getting into an Internet fight with strangers, I headed over to dance mission theater to buy tickets for the deaf dance festival. I was in between jobs, which is somewhat still my situation (but technically I’m underemployed, or fun-der-employed like being “funemployed” but if you’re “underemployed”), and I couldn’t afford the door tickets but that’s ok. As a hearing and/or hearing minded person, I benefit from the income inequality that Deaf people and other disabled people are put through, so it’s understandable that last-minute-at-the-door-ticket-prices aren’t gonna be the cheapest prices. Here is one solution that I think Deaf people have talked about: pay Deaf people and other disabled people a livable wage. That way, people are actually paid for their time and for their work! There are also so many other cultural shows that happen at “dance mission theater” so I hope you’ll check it out :)
