My mother had her 60th birthday party here and it was amazing. The staff made the entire process super easy. I had messaged them online and was able to get a tour of venue the same day and put down a deposit. Our original venue had been overbooked and so we had to find another venue last minute. The staff and great communication! We originally booked the Jr. Ballroom which was perfect for about 50 people. They upgraded us for free to their club room due to work being done in the Jr. Ballroom. They provided tables and chairs and were kind enough to help us set up our decorations. They were available the entire night to help troubleshoot any issues we had with the mic, volume or lights. My Mother and my family had an amazing time and I highly recommend them. We will definitely be holding other events here in the future.

If I could give 10 stars, I would!! Sara was BEYOND wonderful in helping with my daughter's Sweet 16 party, dance lessons for our first dance, and hosting my wedding reception. The venue is extremely clean and they ensure everything is how you need it for your event. I will definitely be using them again and can't wait to participate in some of their dance classes.

I have really enjoyed going to the socials at Dancesport. Sarah and John and sweet and welcoming. I have found the atmosphere just the perfect balance for my neurospicy brain. The various dance communities are accepting of all skill levels. Highly recommend checking them out when you don’t know what to do with yourself on a random evening or wanted to dance but have been too shy to try.

Finding DanceSportVA has enhanced our lives so much. We first started taking lessons there to learn something fun for our wedding dance. Those lessons were so enjoyable, we decided to continue. At first, we were really shy about our lack of skills and continued just working one-on-one with an instructor for private lessons. We still have weekly lessons with him using the convenience of a pre-paid private lesson package. It's the best part of my week. We spend the whole session literally laughing out loud. Over time, we recognized that there are people across the full spectrum of dance skills having fun at DanceSportVA, so there was no need to be shy about our over-abundance of left feet. We ventured into some group classes, which turn out to be a great way to pick up a new dance or a new pattern while enjoying the comradery of others at similar skill levels. DanceSportVA offers group classes at the Beginner, Beyond Beginner, and Intermediate levels, making it easy to find a good fit. While the group classes don't give you the personal one-on-one attention of a private lesson, they have their own vibe and dynamic interactions with other students that make them fun. As a couple, we're definitely still on the beginner end of the skill range, but we are starting to expand the dances we know and working on our technique. To be honest, I see some of the incredible skills and gracefulness of others and know I'll probably never achieve those levels, but that doesn't mean we aren't still having a whole lot of fun right at the level we're at. We've even been brave enough to perform in a few showcases, which is something I never thought would happen. The Friday night socials have become so engrained in our lives at this point that I can't imagine our weekends without them. Each week, a dance is taught by a rotating pool of incredibly skilled instructors. At 6:30, there's a beginner's class during which participants learn or get refamiliarized with the basic steps. At 7:30, a beyond-beginners lesson is taught for the same dance, often adding on to the first lesson. The remainder of the evening is then open dancing. The ballroom features a mix of a wide variety of different dances. The Dance Club focuses on a particular style each week (Latin, Country, West Coast Swing). You can walk between the two rooms as you like. Admission to the Friday social also includes two drink tickets per person (sodas, beer or wine) and snacks. Many couples attend the social, but that doesn't mean singles can't have fun, too. There are instructors and dance hosts who are happy to partner up for a dance or two, and the whole crowd is really, really friendly so there are dance partners to be found. On occasion, usually when there's a showcase or competition event coming up, there will be beautiful dance demonstrations during a quick break from the open dancing. These are always amazing! On the 3rd Friday of each month, several dance studios combine to do a joint social at DanceSportVA, so the crowd is bigger and the vibe lively! There's usually a fun theme and enhanced snack options for these 3rd Friday socials. The price for the combined group's 3rd Friday socials is slightly higher than other Fridays, but it's amazing at either price point to get a full evening of entertainment, two lessons, a couple glasses of beer or wine, nibbles, and 3 1/2 hours of dancing for $15-$20 per person. If you think ballroom, Latin, country, or swing dancing is something you'd enjoy, please don't do what I did. Don't psych yourself into thinking you can't do it or that it would be too embarrassing to try it. Don't wait until your partner absolutely has to drag you there. (Drag them there, instead!) Looking back at my experiences since first finding DanceSportVA, my only disappointment is that I didn't start many years sooner.

We had so much fun learning how to dance, not just for our wedding but in general. Jason was our instructor, he made sure we were comfortable with the moves and with being around others while dancing. We plan to take more lessons and go to the dance parties
