The service here is impeccable, with attentive waiters and staff. However, the food falls short of expectations for a fine dining establishment. It lacks flavor and seems to be one of those exclusive places that don’t live up to the hype. There are many better steakhouses in the area. I wouldn’t waste my time here unless you’re simply trying to impress someone. One of the biggest shortcomings I’d say is that happy hour is only available at the bar. This is quite biased, especially for those who want to grab a drink. This exclusion was never mentioned to us until we were at the restaurant, and it wasn’t even included in the menu.
A perfect dinner with the best flavors! Our appetizers were so tasty- Who Dat Shrimp and Chargrilled Oysters. The basket of garlic bread is so light and garlicky. Love a wedge salad and the thick cut bacon bits make this wedge! If you are fortunate enough to get a meatball, ENJOY! Soooo tasty! Filet mignon medium was perfection! Two sides: potatoes au gratin and creamed spinach. Forgot to snap pics of these but they were fabulous! Bread pudding and crème brûlée for dessert. Both were spectacular.
This restaurant was on a very vast research my brother compiled. He was not gonna stop until he acquired the lamb chops which were $72. My Sister also had the lamb chops. I settled for the lobster bisque and Who Dat shrimp with homemade Chipotle sauce. The bread and.my lobster bisque was wonderful. Neithervsibling enjoyed the lamb chops. I never ate the shrimp however. We were frustrated when we arrived back to our hotel and noticed there was a "dual rate" we were never informed of. We paid Cash but was told our bill was $233, but when we looked at our bill, the CASH price was $225. We tipped $40, but what happened to the remainder. The website indicated business attire which made us nervous as tourists, but there were numerous people in casual attire as well. I do have to give kudos to Chris who made it a point to find us a spot on a crowded night knowing we were from out of town.
It’s not bad but it’s not the best. The best thing about this restaurant is the staff. They really try their best. The food is just ok given the prices. I will say my ribeye was cooked a perfect medium rare. The creamed spinach was bland. The crab cakes were disappointing at best. They were mushy and had bits of crab shells. They aren’t served with any sauce. The lamb chops were well seasoned. The mashed potatoes the lamb chops were served with were meh. I had the Down the Rabbit Hole cocktail. The focus must be on the fog it’s served with because the taste was just ok. Disappointing experience overall. Not the worst steakhouse but certainly not the best-ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE
Dined at Desi Vega’s on St Charles with friends, and every single detail, from the food, to the service, to the atmosphere, was absolute perfection. Started with crab cakes, Who Dat shrimp, and the signature Desi Vega meatballs—all incredible. Moved on and split a mozzarella and tomato salad, (definitely recommend). For the main course, had the large filet, which was cooked to perfection. Melt-in-your-mouth tender, one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Side dishes were sautéed mushrooms and sweet potato soufflé which complemented the steak perfectly. Split peanut butter pie and red velvet brownie à la mode for dessert. I have to give a shout out to our servers, Adrian and DJ and bartender, Cadet. They were personable and fun. Polite, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, they kept the wine and cocktails flowing and made sure that everything was exactly as we wanted. If you’re looking for an upscale dining experience in New Orleans with outstanding food, impeccable service, and a fantastic atmosphere, Desi Vega’s on St. Charles Avenue is an absolute must-visit. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
