I have just been here and drawn in by the 2 for 1 cream scones I went to the restaurant at the till I was "rudely " informed that I was unable to substitute a plain scone for one of the cream scones. This is the first time any restaurant or cafe has ever told me that I couldn't have the cheaper scone as the 2nd one. So it seems hard luck if you are lactose intolerant Dobbies doesn't want to include you in their offers.

I recently visited with my youngest son to visit santa, I've got to say it was the worst yet. The elves didnt even have elf attire on except for the elf doing the photos! Father christmas was sat on a garden bench with a bit of tinsel over it...im so surprised with dobbies I've been going here for near 17 years now as I had done with my eldest and it really has lost its magic and sparkle. Everyone I've spoken to have said the same. My son is very observant and noticed it all...even the props looked worn and torn...really need to invest for next year! Father Christmas himself was as always great and made a great effort with what he had to work with!

GROTTO BRILL, rude man on the hook a snow-duck stall This was gonna be a 1 star review but the ****christmas grotto staff and santa were brill**** On the other hand, the fella on the hook a snow-duck stand had an attitude, it was empty (understandable now) we was stood there waiting for minutes while he was just scrolling on his phone then he finally looked up with an attitude and said "you do realise It's £5 a go don't you?" we didn't even mention price, he was quite cockey. Very strange vibes! He couldn't be bothered, no festive cheer in him at all, wouldn't make eye contact, glued to his phone, no hi, thanks, bye or nothing. Talk about service with a smile! I couldn't wait to grab the teddy and go! Should of been ran by a robot would of got more conversation and festive cheer out of it. Garden centre is so run down inside. Notcutts and Bents are so much nicer.

Came here for a spot of lunch on Saturday with my dog, it was really busy and I understandably had to wait to get a seat in the dog area. The girl cleaning tables was really lovely and was very patient in helping me to get a free table to sit at with my dog. She really went above and beyond and really made my experience a positive one. 10/10

Visited to see Father Christmas with my daughter and sister, we also had afternoon tea in the restaurant, and the food was great and the service was excellent. The father Christmas was very authentic and the setting was brilliant.
