I worked with Chelse to help us train our anxious French bulldog. I recommend her to anyone, particularly people with first pets who need support. She was so curious and thoughtful and nonjudgmental and made sure to set achievable homework between sessions. We're grateful for all her help!
Ann (and Mike) are great instructors. Patient, encouraging, and knowledgable. Decided to try a fun activity with my energetic three year old Frenchton (who loves to run and play frisbee/fetch), and the Intro to Agility Training has been a great experience for both of us. Ann had mentioned in one of the first classes that a new bond between pup and pet parent would form, and it really has made me and my pup closer. Things seemed to click around the third class and my girl went from unsure to confident and waiting eagerly for her turn at the course. It was nice that my pup knows/practices basic commands such as sit, wait, and OK (release), having completed a puppy class back in the day. But there was a six month old puppy in the same class, so as long as you and your dog have the patience and motivation for something like agility, go for it. I brought a mat for my pup to sit on, water bottle, water dish, and tasty treats (cut-up hot dogs, cheese, and soft treats) to each class. The training takes place in the Happy Dogz Daycare facility, and it does unfortunately smell like urine the second you walk in. Anne assured us that it gets cleaned daily, and I'm sure they do having cleaning protocols in place. I'm simply used to my pup's doggy daycare where it smells fresh and where I've seen them using an industrial floor cleaning machine as well as the staff wiping down walls and equipment. You get used to the smell and the class is an hour long. And it is a nice, large space. Thank you Ann and Mike. It is clear you have a connection with dogs and we appreciate your time and expertise. And as a "handler," I learned a lot just by watching you with my pup as well as others in the class. Thanks again!
I can't say enough good things about Dog's Best Friend! Lola and I started taking classes with Dog’s Best Friend Training shortly after I adopted her in 2019 and haven’t stopped since! I am so grateful to them for helping me to develop my relationship with my dog. Friends and family often remark that Lola is so well-behaved and that she and I seem to communicate so well with each other, and always I have to credit Dog’s Best Friend! Lola is a very smart, very anxious, very food-motivated dog, so training with Dog’s Best Friend was a great outlet for her to learn new things, socialize with other pups, enjoy some delicious treats, and tucker herself out in the process. Classes were always engaging, well-organized, and flexible for different dogs’ needs and strengths – and so much fun! As Lola was learning new tricks, practicing obedience skills, finding scents, and making puppy friends, I was also learning about how dogs communicate with one another and with us, and practicing my communication with Lola in a way that really deepened our relationship with each other. I learned so much about how to be a good dog parent from Dog’s Best Friend, and I am so grateful! Sadly, we’ll be leaving Madison in a few months, and Dog’s Best Friend Training will be one of the things I (we) miss most. I highly recommend Dog’s Best Friend to anyone who wants to give their pup a fun and enriching experience, develop their relationship and communication skills with their dog, and have a bunch of fun as they learn new things together. Thank you, Dog’s Best Friend!
Julie is the ultimate professional. Not only does she treat the dogs with the utmost care and kindness but also their owners, too. Julie always asks for questions and concerns we owners have. My Maggie has attended Puppy I, Puppy II, and Intermediate. Maggie has loved class so much that she never wants to leave. Julie usually has to take her to my car.
Just had our first puppy class for our 13 week old Miniature Pinscher. The trainer was great, friendly and experienced. The class size was perfect. Love how clear and informative the trainer explained things. She made the training fun! They teach more than just “sit” and other cues, like having a calm spot for your puppy to relax which is great! We’re looking forward to the next classes!
