ZERO stars for the Austin location!! I have been a Drybar member for YEARS in Dallas and have visited Drybars all over Texas and even outside of Texas. I have thicker hair, and it goes to about my shoulders. A very normal haircut. I have never, in the years I’ve been a member, been asked to pay extra for any extra time for my blowout. Never. At any Texas location in Dallas, San Antonio, or the Domain. But the downtown location says they have to be done with your hair—your entire blowout—in 45 min. That includes the double wash that every stylist does. That includes the stylists changing instruments, putting in product; etc. That includes stylists showing up 5 min late!! In Austin, that counts as time towards your blowout. Unbelievable. And if they don’t finish in 45 min EXACTLY, their rude manager tries to charge you an extra $30!!! It happened to me twice now, only in downtown Austin, and I will never go back. It is a shame because the other locations don’t do this. Only Austin downtown. Lots of hair places do blowouts now for $50. Save your time and $ and go somewhere else.
I have never left a bad review before, but this last visit I feel like i needed to say something. I have been to MULTIPLE different drybar locations and I have only ever had an issue with being charged for extra time at the downtown austin location. I literally recorded how long i was in the bowl to get my hair washed and it was 23 minutes of the appointment.. of course my hair wouldn’t be fully dry with only 22 minutes left in the appointment! I’m so bummed because i love all of the stylists and have loved having a barfly membership, but this actually was my last straw and just cancelled. I’m truly so sad, but this policy is insane with how much timing fluctuates from location to location - more specifically downtown austin. My visit history shows my timing at other locations vs downtown austin too. the extra $30 is not worth it unfortunately 😢
Went here for my best friends birthday. Veronica did an amazing job and was so sweet. She is truly one of the girlies but also made my hair feels so light and glamorous!! She really made the whole experience. My friends stylist was silent and kinda ruined the vibes for her especially since we told them it was her birthday. 5 stars for Veronica and this salon tho!
I've been going to Drybar downtown location for over a year and was previously a monthly Barfly member. Until recently, I truly enjoyed my visits and appreciated the convenience and quality of service. My blowouts typically took between 45–60 minutes, depending on the level of skill of stylist. I was usually happy with my results. However, I was recently surprised to be charged an additional $30 fee for services that went slightly over 45 minutes—something that had never been an issue before. The first time this happened, there was no prior communication or policy update shared with me before this charge was applied, which made the experience feel abrupt and unfair. What’s more frustrating is that there have been multiple occasions where my appointments started late—sometimes by as much as 30 minutes—yet no compensation or acknowledgment was offered for the inconvenience. This inconsistency in policy and service ultimately led me to cancel my membership. Since then, I’ve started visiting the Domain location, where the team has consistently completed my blowouts within 45 minutes and provided excellent service without any surprise fees. The difference in experience has been night and day.
Waste of $100 (less the $15 scalp massage) My hair has never looked worse for an event. My request: Voluminous blowout with some curl - I received frizzy 1/2 done hair. 2 images of disordered almost curls and one picture of how my hair looked after 6-7hrs. After blowing and curling it she “curled” my hair AGAIN with a straightener. Obviously the curls didn’t hold because she used the straightener AFTER the curler. Still don’t understand why, when the curls looked just fine. Pretty devastating to waste $100 on a “treat” and my hair looked horrible for the wedding I was attending. Because it took TWO hours to mess up my hair, I didnt have time to fix it because I had to get ready. But the $15 scalp massage felt great. Usually blowouts and curls last me days…
