Have been coming here for years and they have always taken great care of our dogs.
Our experience yesterday with an end of life appointment for our dog was horrific. This is the 4th time we've had to say goodbye to a dog, so we definitely know what to expect. To start, the tech came in and asked, "So what's going on?" This was disturbing to have to explain yet again considering this office is the one who has been running tests and determined our dog was having not only liver failure but heart failure as well. Regardless, we explained yet again what was going on. We were very specific in the fact that we have already had our time with him while he is coherent to say goodbye and we didnt want/need time with him after he was sedated before the Dr came in to give him the final meds. VERY SPECIFIC. That isn't how it went, and as a result, not only did we have a horrific experience, but the last 10 minutes of Peteys life were stressful. They took him back for a catheter and brought him back in the room for sedation and the Dr was supposed to immediately come in for the final meds. Petey was sedated and it immediately took effect which is normal. He was relaxed for a good 3 to 4 minutes laying in our arms. After this time he started to fight the sedation and was flopping his head around and trying to stay awake. About 10 minutes passed from time of sedation before the Dr came in. Then yet again the Dr tried to explain the process to which I stopped him and asked him to please proceed because we had asked for this to happen back to back and because it didnt Petey was fighting sedation and was no longer calm and peaceful. He did stop explaining and proceeded to administer the meds however because Petey was fighting the sedation he wasn't relaxed so when the Dr gave him the meds his head fell very hard on my shoulder and it was a horrific experience to feel that but more importantly knowing he wasn't relaxed like he should have been and all of our other dogs were during this end of life experience was heartbreaking. Needless to say I am so disappointed in how it went. We would have had no problem waiting for the Dr to be ready and then doing sedation and final meds however they did not honor our request and as a result this was Peteys end of life experience.
We came to this vet as recommended by a friend when we had to take our 14 year old in for his final moments. The staff was absolutely incredible during such a difficult time. We have since switched all our pets to their office for care. We have a spicy and scared Chihuahua that has always been frightened at the vet. He willingly goes to their technicians.
