I’m honestly shocked at how terrible my experience was with this Beverly Hills chocolate company. I placed an online order worth and guess what showed up? Absolutely nothing. No package, no update, no explanation. I reached out several times hoping they’d at least pretend to care. Instead, I got vague replies, zero accountability, and no real effort to fix the situation. For a brand that charges premium prices, their service is unbelievably unprofessional. I’ve dealt with plenty of online shops, and this is by far the most frustrating and disappointing one. They took my order, failed to deliver it, and left me to sort out their mess on my own. Save yourself the headache. This company is not worth the risk.
Historical plaque inscription: Edelweiss Chocolates is one of the oldest confectioners in the United States. The chocolatier opened at this site in 1942. After 31 years, the store was sold to Swiss-born Herman Schmidt, who changed his name to Edelweiss. The famous episode of "I Love Lucy" and the candy assembly line scene was inspired by this confectioner.
I have eaten and tasted a LOT of fancy, expensive chocolate and Edelweiss chocolates still rank among my favorites. I’ve also given them out as gifts and always got rave reviews from the recipients. I’d describe this as a more traditional chocolate - classic and tried-and-true, not avant-garde. The dark chocolate orange slices and Katharine Hepburn’s chocolate turtles are my favorite.
They make their own marshmellows. I love their dark chocolate; rich tasting and not too sweet. A nice, luxurious, yet affordable treat in Beverly Hills.
This is another one of our longest running, locally owned businesses with a long tradition of legendary customers such as Frank Sinatra and Madonna. While chocolate is always good any time of year, there is something special about Edelweiss and the onset of the holiday season. Just walking by the place will get you in the mood. They have all kinds of gift arrangements perfect for any occasion, but our favorite is just the trays of various chocolates, mix and match. No matter what you're looking for, you will find something wonderful in here.
