Extremely terrible experience- My girlfriend and I walked up to get a tour. The reception was extremely rude and short with us. Two different people. The incident was at Saturday 1/3/2026, noon. Thank you for paying attention to this matter management. I used to be a member at Beale Street. It was kind of sad to see this type of behavior. Made me extremely uncomfortable. Won't be signing up.
The parking situation is insane. We pay so much for membership and they charge $5 for three hours and after that it’s like $26 if you go over three hours. The LA sports club it’s $2 for three hours and $1 after every hour added which is a way better parking situation than this SF location. On top of that the cleaning lady closed the sauna and steam room early when they are supposed to close it at 9:30pm. I went in at 9:14pm ready to go into the sauna and steam room for that last bit of time and she was already cleaning it. I was confused thinking maybe it was because of holiday hours but after I was done showering I heard the announcement that the steam closes at 9:30pm so it’s really inconvenient that she closed it early. Other than that it is a nice clean gym with nice equipments. If they fix those issues it will be 5 stars for me.
This gym is very mediocre. That's really the best I could say about it. My $29.95/month membership at 24 Hour Fitness in Boulder, Colorado was a lot better than this gym. And I pay $500/month because I have an executive membership. The only reason I pay for the executive membership is because it comes with free parking and is roughly the same as just paying for parking. Other than that, this gym is very mediocre. They have one leg extension machine. ONE! Meanwhile, they have like 75 treadmills. They don't care at all about the quality of this gym. All they would have to do is interview people, spend one day interviewing members to find out what needs to be changed. And maybe spend $10,000 on new equipment. For example, I am constantly waiting for a bench throughout the day. There are literally 100% of the benches occupied at all times. Because there's only like seven of them. Meanwhile, they have 75 treadmills. What's frustrating is that this is about status quo for gyms in San Francisco. They don't need to change because there is no competition. It's really a joke. Come on, do better, Equinox.
Unexpectedly poor customer service at this location. Recently, I attempted to make a purchase at the Equinox Shop at the Equinox Sports Club SF and intended to use my points balance, which is due to expire quite soon. Unfortunately, no one on duty at the time had access to the system needed to process a points redemption, so only card payments were available. After speaking with the club manager, Erica, she kindly suggested a workaround: I would complete the purchase with my credit card, and she would refund the charge the next day and re-process the transaction using my points. We also agreed that I could call her if anything didn’t go as expected. Since then, no refund has been issued. I called the club the following day - and several times afterward - and each time was assured that Erica would get back to me. Unfortunately, no one has followed up. While the amount is modest, the experience has been surprisingly disappointing, especially given the consistently exceptional service I’ve received from Equinox in the past. I would gladly forget this minor incident, but the lack of follow-through and repeated unreturned calls leave me feeling unheard as a member.
The pool is either not cleaned frequently enough or has a malfunctioning filtration system, as it repeatedly becomes dirty and cloudy. I personally witnessed this issue five months ago and again yesterday (see photos below). Although it was cleaned after my initial complaint, the problem has recurred and should not have happened again. This is not what Equinox promises to its members, and not a good experience for those who joined to train in the pool.
