Sakura Latte and Earl Gray Scone were good. Place is small and crowded on a Saturday morning, and no tables available bc people are working on their laptops. When we finally got a table, the chairs were hard and uncomfortable, so I don't understand how people can sit and study/work for extended times. There is a couch with chairs to one side, so you may luck out. HOWEVER, I was upset that one of their two restrooms was locked, but nobody was inside. I mentioned it to an employee, who told another employee, and it was ignored until other customers complained. Customers had to try and find another bathroom at neighboring businesses. It took over 45 minutes for an employee to finally come out to unlock it. Caffeine and locked, unused bathrooms are a very bad combination.

I know I shouldn’t expect great matcha from coffee shops, but I heard good things about this place, so I drove 20 minutes to try it. Right away, I could tell something was off. The matcha was very grainy, almost clumpy, like it hadn’t been properly whisked. I ordered the Uji matcha ($9), and while I understand not all Uji is high quality, this definitely didn’t taste like a good grade. Or the way they whisk it. Or the water temperature not making the match bloom enough because it tasted and smelled nothing. I’m not a professional, but I do make matcha at home, from coffee-grade to ceremonial and I’ve never had one turn out this grainy. It reminded me of the way some places (like Starbucks) just shake matcha powder with milk instead of properly whisking it, just for you to imagine as I saw they whisk it so. As for the flavor, it was also watered down and lacked depth. Overall, really disappointing for the price and the hype.
