On August 21, 2025, at 10:18 a.m., I received a call from Express Employment for a phone interview. The interview initially went well, and the representative informed me that I would be sent an onboarding packet to complete, after which I was instructed to call back around 2:00 p.m. to speak with a senior staff member and continue the interview process. The onboarding packet required highly sensitive personal information, including banking details, Social Security number, and W-2/I-9 documentation. After completing the packet, I called back and spoke with a senior staff member. The first question asked was whether I spoke Spanish. I replied that I spoke English only. At that point, the conversation shifted significantly. I was told that the company they were recruiting for required bilingual candidates (English and Spanish), as the majority of new hires spoke primarily Spanish. The staff member also asked if I had prior experience in wood product manufacturing. I explained that while I did not have direct experience in wood production, I had extensive experience in production, warehouse, and manufacturing environments, particularly in the poultry industry, where I conducted testing, quality assurance, and reporting. This experience was clearly outlined in my resume. Despite this, I was informed that because I did not speak Spanish and lacked direct wood production experience, there were no positions available for me. I was advised to call back weekly to check for future opportunities. Based on the tone and direction of the conversation, it became apparent that no meaningful opportunities would be offered to me. I requested that my account and sensitive information provided in the onboarding packet be deleted. I was told this was not possible, which, after consulting with legal professionals, I learned was inaccurate. In my experience, Express Employment appeared to prioritize bilingual (Spanish-speaking) candidates exclusively, regardless of other qualifications. Additionally, the requirement to provide extensive personal and financial information prior to a background check, drug screening, or official job offer raises serious concerns about their hiring practices.

💕 Thank you Andres for being such a professional receptionist ☺️ Andres went above and beyond to get my onboarding paperwork done and got things moving along after a bad experience from Isabel Santa Cruz South location. (I left a review for Isabel on South location guys) Keep being the wonderful person you are Andres 💖✨🌈

Kaitlyn Clouthier from Express Employment Professionals is so incredibly helpful, encouraging, resourceful, and very prompt. She helped me get set up with Express Employment and scheduled multiple interviews for me the first week! She is awesome! I'm so thankful and grateful for her professionalism and expertise 🙏 If you or anyone needs help, assistance, or unsure of what kind of job they're looking for, I'd highly recommend starting with Express Employment Professionals, and ask for Kaitlyn!
