I went to get my license renewed and eye test done here. I turned in my form and was told I would receive my temporary license via email, and my physical id via mail. I never received either from them. I tried calling upwards of 15 times over several days and the phone wasn’t picked up once. I had to call the Kentucky transportation department, who informed me they had nothing recent in their system for me… even though I filled out and turned in all information they needed from me. The person I spoke to at the KY transportation department even reached out to the manager of the branch and said they should contact me within the day, or the very next day. And yet, days later… nothing. It is extremely frustrating that they have not made any attempt to fix the mistake that THEY made. I now have to go back in person and fix the mistake myself, something that shouldn’t even be necessary if they had just processed my information correctly the first time. It’s honestly ridiculous that a government-run office can lose someone’s personal information, ignore countless calls, and then leave the person who followed all the rules to clean up their mess.
I check every morning for an appointment for the driver's test. Every morning it says ".no availability ". I've tried at all different times. I don't know how to get my kid her license if she can never get an appointment for the driver's test
This DMV is a complete nightmare. I wasted six hours waiting as walk-ins were constantly pushed aside for appointments and tests. There’s no clear system, no transparency about wait times, and zero regard for the people stuck there all day. After finally getting called, I was turned away over a minor technicality—something that could have easily been handled with a little common sense. Instead, the staff was cold, unhelpful, and unwilling to make any reasonable exception. It’s clear they don’t care how much of your time they waste. If you don’t have an appointment, stay far away unless you enjoy waiting hours just to be dismissed in seconds.
This is by far the most abysmal DMV I have ever had the displeasure of going to. Every time that I have gone in, every last individual that I have spoken to has been incredibly rude and has made it very apparent that they would rather be doing anything else but their job. It is impossible to get them on the phone because they have their phone off the hook, and good luck getting them to answer a single email. When I was 16, there to take my written test, I was rushed. When I was 17 to do my road test, I was told to do an illegal maneuver as my first instruction and was then screamed and cursed at for following through with said instructions, being failed in less than two minutes. And this wasn’t just exclusive to me, because in the line of cars that I was waiting my turn in, every car in front of me didn’t last any longer than I did. Now 20, going in to get my full license issued to me, I was told that walk-ins are no longer available despite their website showing that they had all day walk-ins. So of course, with no other possible options, I went home and scheduled an appointment. I had three of those appointments get canceled over a month into waiting for each of them. Because of the inconvenience of my appointments repeatedly being canceled, my intermediate has now expired, making my unrestricted license issuance that much harder. When I finally managed to get an appointment to follow through, I waited in line for over half an hour just to finally get a text on my phone telling me to check in. After some more waiting, I finally go back with all of my information, just to be told that my proof of address is invalid because it wasn’t sent to me within the last year, this of course wouldn’t have been a problem if I could’ve gone to the first appointment I had scheduled initially. I was then sent home and required to book yet another appointment just barely before the amnesty period on my intermediate license runs out. If for whatever reason, my next appointment does not go over smoothly, I will be required to retest for both written and road tests to get my intermediate license once again, to then go back home and schedule ANOTHER appointment to get my full unrestricted license. Costing me months of my time, and money out of my pockets. It is incredibly infuriating that there is no other Drivers license regional offices within my city, meaning I have no other choices than to sit here and cross my fingers that at least one individual from this sorry location will take my inquiry seriously.
I was really impressed with the service I got here. I made an appointment online and walked right in at my appointment time. My license was about to expire, so I applied for a new one, and was able to get it for several years. The clerk explained the ins and outs of the Real ID vs just a drivers license, and I opted for the Real ID. It was mailed to me a few weeks later. Pretty easy!
