We celebrated my birthday at Fig Italian Kitchen & Bar, and it absolutely hit the mark. From the second we walked in on a gorgeous South Lamar evening, everything felt effortless and special. The oysters were ice-cold and seriously fresh, the perfect opener. The mushroom risotto balls were crisp outside and rich inside, with that depth of earth and umami you dream about. The prosciutto pasta was elegant and balanced; comforting but with personality. And that lemon oil olive cake with an old-fashioned was a brilliant finish — bright, silky, and actually memorable. The vibe struck a sweet spot between relaxed and elevated. Cocktails were well mixed, service attentive without hovering, and the menu showcased modern takes on Italian favorites with seasonal twists that made each bite interesting. We could easily stroll over to our concert at The 04 afterward, which kept the night rolling perfectly. Fig’s commitment to thoughtful, fresh, Italian-inspired cooking really shows. A great place for a celebration meal or pre-show dinner. Highly recommend.
Fig was the most wonderful Friday night birthday experience. Our server answered all our questions and guided us to exactly what we did not know we were craving. You can’t skip the rolls. Octopus was one of the best renditions of octopus I have ever had. Amazing atmosphere and service. Visiting from out of town but I will make an effort to come back when I am in town. Our server was excellent and so engaging. I felt personally cared for as he ensured that the kitchen understood my allergies. He also coordinated with the bartender to help us select the perfect bottle of wine which was the Arneis which was dry but had sweet notes of honey. The food was delicious and well portioned. And the brioche sundae the kitchen sent for my birthday was delicious. I loved my experience and I hope to return soon
It was our first time trying Fig and it was so nice! Jordan was taking care of us and made our visit special! We came to celebrate my birthday during early dinner time and it was nice to have the patio to ourselves- the setting is peaceful and the service was just the perfect amount of attentive- We had the octopus to start then the rigatoni pasta and half chicken entrée. Dessert was the chocolate cheese cake and it didn't disappoint! Everything was quality from the food, wine, the service, and atmosphere~
We went to Fig for a birthday celebration. The service was impeccable. We had the octopus, lamb, brioche and Oysters as shared appetizers. Every appetizer was perfectly prepared, seasoned and presented with perfection. The entrees, seared scallops and trout, so delicious and a feast for the eyes. The chocolate cheesecake with coconut ice cream and latte are not to be missed!! 10/10, definitely recommend.
What a cute place to go for a happy hour. Located in near South Congress/South Lamar in a complex with FREE garage parking (yes you read that free garage parking in that area? Found a unicorn) this gem of Italian restaurant is a great place to enjoy happy hour and enjoy contemporary Italian (but not classic Italian) dishes. It has a gorgeous patio underneath a tree that would be a great place to bring your dog and is dog friendly. For happy hour we got the brioche with truffle butter which was DELICIOUS. Think of it as basically a big Hawaiian roll with a nice crust, a little flaky salt that is so fluffy when bitten into and eaten. The truffle butter with it was so good and thankfully the truffle butter had the right amount of truffle without being overwhelming. We also had the arancini which were HUGE and very earthy due to mushrooms but still delicious and thankfully even though fried it wasn't too heavy. We ended up not getting pasta from happy hour and got pasta from the main menu. I ended up getting ricotta gnocchi which comes with saffron butter, shiitake mushrooms, smoked hatch chilies, roasted corn, and Aleppo. The gnocchi was pretty fluffy and great texture and not gummy. The sauce was a little bit too acidic (aka very lemony) which I wasn't expecting for me so I feel like I didn't taste the hatch chiles at all nor Aleppo which is usually smoky. I think next time I will try a different pasta. Service was was great. Our server Brenda was very attentive and I appreciated that since we were there for birthday celebration we got strawberry shortcake brioche dessert on the house. Parking is free in the garage attached to the restaurant!
