I really can't sing Nadia's and Jun's praises loudly enough. Thanks to them, we had SUCH an ENJOYABLE experience! A group of 7 of us - family and family friends - came into fishcake and their art school, fishschool, not knowing what to expect. Nadia so warmly welcomed us into their cosy, characterful private art space; we all put on our aprons and the false confidence of artists who knew what they were doing; and for the next three hours, we shared so much laughter talking story the whole way through! Nadia patiently and skillfully taught us one of her specialty clay creations - super cute pufferfish! She and Jun were key to our own pufferfish looking halfway decent, and they were so encouraging as we let our creativities flow. I would recommend this experience for family outings, hangouts with friends, creative dates, fun days out, and actually whenever you're having a bad day and just need a pick-me-up. The activities - which range far wider than just pufferfish and pottery - are first-rate, the venue is beautiful and inviting, and most of all, Nadia and Jun are some of the most excellent artists and art instructors around. I highly, highly, highly recommend.

Fishschool is located at the back of fishcake. Amazing classes, patient teachers, a beautiful art community. 10/10 highly recommend! There are so many courses offered at fish school, i would definitely recommend to follow them on instagram (@fishschoolhawaii). From weaving, to sewing, to painting, to pottery, theres definitely a class for everyone and anyone. Its a great opportunity for a fun date night or to hang out with friends and create memories. Ive taken several ceramics courses and a silk scarf class and ive learned so much and came out with some beautiful pieces i will treasure forever. Dont wait - take the opportunity to try the art medium you’ve always been curious about! There is usually a lot of street parking available (depending on the day and time) or theres a public pay parking lot just a block away at the apartment building that is next to ke kilohana.
