The food was amazing, the service was very good and the prices are reasonable. If you have any allergies please let them know as they have a very good alternatives. We all had something different and we were all very happy.
Lovely staff, lovely food but flies are everywhere! It’s horrible! I am sat trying to eat my nice pizza and several small flies are around the table. The toilets could do with being cleaned. I would not return because of the flies and neither would I recommend the restaurant because of the flies. I mentioned it to the staff who have said they have let their boss know. One bonus is they do offer a Blue Light Discount on food - 20%
The food is great. The pizza dough is fantastic. Reminds me of a story of great soup. I was so impressed I asked the waiter to try it to which he replied what's wrong with it and I said try it and he said is there not enough seasoning and I said try it and he said where's the spoon and I said aha (coming to America movie quote). Similarly the knives in this place couldn't cut Play-Doh. and ruins the experience. That is all that is negative about this place. At least give us some pizza cutters or food scissors, or an actual sharp knife to cut the beautiful pizza that you make. Everything else was sublime. The starter main and dessert for £25 per person was very reasonably priced. However, this appears to be just a Christmas offer. The only other reason there is a lack of a second star was due to a service tip being on the bill for only two people. I can understand for a group, but there was hardly anyone in the establishment.
Located in the heart of the city centre Franco Manca is a great resturant if you’re looking for sourdough Neapolitan style pizza. As it’s in the heart of the city centre, it gets busy so bookings are advisable especially on weekends and holidays. The starter of aubergine parmigiana was good albeit the tomatoes were slightly tangy side for me. This might be an authentic way however just a slightly sweeter taste would of been good to mellow out the acidity. For main course I had No.3 Franco’s OG Margherita pizza. Good height on the corcione and the base was crispy and chewy. Good depth of flavour in the piennolo tomato’s and the buffalo mozzarella was outstanding. The tiramisu for dessert capped of a good three course meal with a double espresso to finish. Shout out to the Negroni Sbagliato, outstanding alcohol strength and flavour in the cocktail! The service was good throughout, just lacked the thoughtful check in to see how my food was. I will definitely be coming back to taste their other pizzas and to see if the No.3 OG Margherita is really better than the No.2 Margherita pizza.
A Disappointing Experience (less > 1/5 stars) I rarely write such negative reviews, but my experience at Franco Manca Cardiff was thoroughly disappointing from start to finish. What should have been an enjoyable meal turned into a frustrating ordeal due to poor service and management. The staff appeared completely unprofessional and seemed to actively ignore customers. We waited an unreasonable amount of time before I had to go inside just to ask for a menu - something that should have been offered immediately upon seating. The inattentiveness continued throughout our visit, as we eventually had to chase down staff members to request our check. While the food itself was tasty when it finally arrived, the execution was severely lacking. Despite our order being ready in the kitchen, it sat there getting cold before being brought to our table. What could have been a pleasant dining experience was ruined by what appeared to be poor management and a disorganized staff who seemed overwhelmed or simply uncaring about customer service. The combination of unprofessional service, long waits, and cold food made this visit particularly frustrating. For a restaurant that prides itself on quality pizza, the operational failures completely undermined what might otherwise be decent food. I cannot recommend Franco Manca Cardiff, especially for families looking for a reliable dining experience. The poor management and lackluster staff make it impossible to enjoy what should be a simple meal out. This will definitely be my first and last visit to this location. Save yourself the frustration and choose somewhere else where customer service is actually valued.
