They stripped the screws on my iPhone. They wouldn’t accept responsibility of them damaging my phone.
I went to Best Buy Geek Squad after Apple Support diagnosed a system malfunction with my iPhone 14+ camera and flashlight. Since my phone was still under warranty, Apple scheduled my repair through Best Buy Geek Squad. When I arrived, the initial tech began helping me, but another tech interrupted, saying she was having issues with another customer’s device. They swapped, and unfortunately, she also had trouble assisting me—so the original tech had to come back to help her with my phone. After some confusion, I was told they had one part but not the other and would need to order the missing part. (Interestingly, when I went to another Apple Authorized Service Provider, they only needed one part to fix everything.) Then I was informed that because I didn’t have AppleCare, Best Buy’s policy required them to keep my phone for 1–3 business days until the part arrived—which was a major inconvenience since I don’t have a backup phone and they don’t offer loaner devices. She then offered a workaround: purchase AppleCare so I could take my phone home and return once the part arrived. I agreed, only to find out later that what she sold me was AppleCare for my AirPods, not my phone. At that point, I was completely frustrated and felt my time had been wasted. She then casually suggested I try Computer Link and see if their policy was different. (Thankfully, it was—and they fixed my phone quickly.) I ended up calling Apple Support again to report the incident, and that’s when I also learned I was no longer eligible to purchase AppleCare for my phone since it had been over 30 days from the original purchase. Overall, I do not recommend Best Buy Geek Squad for Apple service if you can help it. If Apple offers them as a service location, I suggest requesting an alternative. This was a very disappointing and frustrating experience
Terrible service at geek squad! Dropped my phone off to be repaired under apple care, was told it would be ready in 3hrs, after 3+ hrs of no updates I went back into the store to get an update and was told it would be a few more hours. I then got a call an hour or so later that my phone could not be repaired and that a replacement would have to be ordered but unsure of when I will receive the replacement. Fast forward to a day later I call the store and was transferred to a 3rd party answering service who has absolutely no idea what’s going on because no notes were updated in the system and they have no idea when I’ll be getting my new device and then proceed to say that I can not get in contact with someone in store because they are not taking calls.. I will NEVER work with Best Buy/geek squad again for any repairs!!
I was there to activate my old iPad mini. To do so I needed to reset my password. It took some time. These people, first with David and later with Jaime were very considerate, helpful and patient with me. Thank you so so much for Your efforts!
Save yourself the trouble and just go somewhere else. I went to get an lcd panel replaced on an iphone under warranty through apple. I figured since they advertise being certified and trained by apple it would be fine. Luckily I assumed they would be incompetent in some manner and made a backup of my phone before I went because they decided it was necessary to wipe my phone to install the lcd panel. They made the decision to do this without contacting me in any way. Pretty absurd to me that they would do that without first contacting the customer. Luckily I backed mine up first but they don't even recommend that when you come in for service. Not one person asked me if I had backed it up or if I wanted to back it up before they serviced it.
