I stopped by Gato Bakeshop on Sargent avenue (at Alverstone st) in the west end for a snack and must say that I was very impressed overall. I ordered a slice of coconut based pecan cake and it definitely exceeded my expectations!. They also sell croissants, breakfast sandwiches, ginger bread, lattes and other delicacies. There is an adjacent parking lot as well as free street parking. The staff is friendly and there’s a decent selection of products. Very high-quality overall. I recommend.

This is our second time at Gato. We want to try their filled croissants but they seem to go fast. (We’ll have to get there earlier next time.). We’re appreciative of their pastries. They’ve got a nice delicate crumb and they are not too sweet. A real nice balance. The coffee is good, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the sourdough bread has a nice flavour. We’ll definitely be back.

Among top favourite bakeries in Winnipeg. It’s definitely an indulgence. Their sour dough croissant style is delicious. Easily highly rated and recommended to pastry fans.

One of Winnipeg's many great little bake shops! They have a weekly baked goods feature. This week is the Reese PB Cup croissant. Amazing! This is pictured with this review. Ive sampled a few things here, and all are great! Not a lot of seating, and their most popular goods will sell out by late morning. Aside from that, this is a great place to stop for coffee and a sweet treat.

9.5/10 If you ask me for a hidden gem bakery+cafe shop, you best believe I will mention this bakeshop alongside others. It's an easily overlooked bakeshop across Sargent Ave. that's been in operation for 4 years—and I've just known about it this year. It's most likely because they have a inconspicuous sign that is pretty much invisible to me and many others. It's a sufficiently small place with seating for 2-3 groups or 6 single seating overlooking the window facing the road. The service was friendly and inviting, while adding a touch of mystery and excitement. The atmosphere was good, though not as exceptional as Cafe Nul across the intersection. Overall, it's a shop I would go to every once in a while, and definitely a must-visit for pastry lovers!
