So I took my animus in today to find out about a servo replacement and new battery set up for lipo. The truck was perfectly fine when I brought it in, the only issue was old battery and possibly failing servo. The young kid that took the body off of my daughters truck, set the clips down and started fumbling the top of the truck in his hands, yanked out the connection that hooks up the led lights and when I noticed the extra wire on the counter my daughter pointed out that he broke it. When confronted he acted like a kid who got caught breaking something would, and denied breaking the wiring. Long story short, I was sent out of the store without ANY resolution for there neglectful handling and told to use electric tape on something that's now broken and has to be resoldered. If I wanted a project on something broke I would've shopped on marketplace for that. I will be purchasing online and that's a shame because I am getting three XRT's which is potentially a 3500.00 dollar purchase, and a a result they lost that sell. I would go to another store or make sure you deal with an older experienced person who will respect your stuff like there own. The older guys there where good but I fell like they should've stepped in a little more and made it right one way or another.
This is a great toy store for kids of all ages. They've got something for everyone: puzzles, kites, Legos, more Kinex sets than I've seen in years, static models, trains, RC cars, planes and boats, Gundams, etc.. They even had an indoor and outdoor RC crawler course. I'm mainly into planes and they had multiple marked well below Internet prices. The employees were friendly but gave us space. This is my new favorite store in Austin.
I forgot his name but he seemed like mid 20’s, curly haired guy was awesome. I was looking for a Christmas gift for my daughter she wanted an RC car. I have very limited knowledge of electric RC’s when I was growing up it was all nitro. He filled me in answered every question I had and helped me come up with a solution for her learning on an RC than being able to speed it up when shes comfortable. I just came to look and get an idea but with the knowledge he had I was able to comfortably commit to buying one then and there. I know she is going to love it.
Great place, they have an expert for everything and the staff are super friendly. I feel great evry time i leve and there gunpla and tool selections are great! I wish it was a bigger shop I love it so much and more models would be cool but thats just because im picky. There's no better place in austin and I think I've been to all of them. Toy dojo is cool to but lacks tools
The Austin store off Palmer is AWESOME! Gene and the rest of the staff are excellent representatives of the store and the RC community. I bought my first crawler just from going inside to look. The knowledge and no "hard sale", relaxed energy had me trusting Genes advice. I came back in and bought another truck for my son. Two new guys to the hobby and were both loving it. I can't say enough about this store and the staff, no attitude you see in other stores (even Starbucks can be intimidating), LOL! Not at this store, Kudos to the staff and management, literally everyone there is patient and kind, a rarity in todays cut throat World. They'll have me as a customer for life. If you are even remotely intrigued, do yourself a favor and go in and take a look, really cool stuff!
